THE MOST BEAUTIFUL WINE IN THE WORLD IN MUSIC



Orcia, the most beautiful wine in the world, invites wine lovers to a great weekend in San Quirico and in Bagno Vignoni, within the masterpiece landscape included in the UNESCO World Heritage Sites List – So Mayor Valeria Agnelli said, opening the doors of the seventeenth–century building, the heart of the festival. From 24th to 26th April, in the frescoed halls of Palazzo Chigi in San Quirico d’Orcia, you can taste and buy Orcia wines meeting their producers. For those who want to deepen knowledge there will be degustations led by ONAV Siena tasters on old and new Orcia wineries, as well as a real novelty: the tastings in music – Councillor Ugo Sani promises. More culture and wine in the itinerant tastings coming down in the underground sixteenth century mills to reveal the secrets of the medieval village of Bagno Vignoni, with relaxing stops dedicated to wine – the Chairwoman of the Orcia Consortium Donatella Cinelli Colombini suggests. On Saturday night, the main event with the dinner at Palazzo Chigi in San Quirico, preceded by a small concert. More music and wine, culture and flavours.



The Orcia Wine Festival inaugurates the school of wine for tourists – Orcia Wine Class – held by the Delegate of ONAV Siena Alessandra Ruggi within Palazzo Chigi in San Quirico d’Orcia – the Delegate Alessandra Ruggi, to whom we owe the project, explains. A whole country that celebrates its wines, proposing them in the showcases, in restaurants but also in new experiences such as "staves of wine": a party that goes out into the streets with flags and drums, the historical costumes of the Districts of the Barbarossa Festival. There will be exhibitions, painting performaces, vintage cars shows on Saturday morning, and other initiatives that enrich the program of a beautiful weekend in the land of landscapes, great wines and thermal water. We should not forget that Bagno Vignoni, in the municipality of San Quirico d’Orcia, is the only medieval spa still preserved and today is one of the cult places of wellness worldwide. Therefore, not only wine at the Orcia Wine Festival!



THE ORCIA DOC WINE AND ITS CONSORTIUM



The Orcia Designation was founded on 14th February 2000 and includes the Orcia varieties obtained from red grapes with at least 60% of Sangiovese and Orcia "Sangiovese" with at least 90% of this variety, both also in the "Reserve" type. The Orcia designation includes the White, Rosé and Holy Wine types. The wines are made in about forty wineries and demonstrate the commitment and passion of the producers, who in the vast majority do everything directly: from the vineyard to the sale of the bottles. In an era of globalization, the Orcia wine is still a familiar product, made by those who live in the vineyards, in harmony with nature and with excellent oenology and viticulture skills. The Orcia wine is produced in one of the world’s most beautiful agricultural districts and in part is included in the UNESCO World Heritage Sites List. 13 Municipalities: Buonconvento, Castiglione d’Orcia, Pienza, Radicofani, San Giovanni d’Asso, San Quirico d’Orcia, Trequanda and part of Abbadia San Salvatore, Chianciano Terme, Montalcino, San Casciano dei Bagni, Sarteano and Torrita di Siena.
