Mercatino del Gusto, the beauty of normality

From 1 to 5 August in the historic center of Maglie (Lecce) the twenty-second edition of the review that brings together the beauty and the good of Puglia

The beauty of normality. Which is not only a return to a situation of freedom of life and movement, but also a going backwards (and at the same time forward) in time. When - explains Giacomo Mojoli , ideologue of the Taste Market in tandem with Michele Bruno and Salvatore Santese - "the world linked to food and its surroundings knew how to generate gratitude". On the other hand, the times we live in are already harbingers of sometimes unpleasant obligations, therefore an event linked to the joy of living (and quality living) cannot fail to have this year as an inspiring theme, such as the Mercatino del Gusto. Gratitude : "Gratitude for everything that is beautiful and well done in the world, from catering to hospitality, from the enjoyment of the landscape to the ways of using public property", explains Mojoli. Gratitude, therefore, "as a pragmatic value capable of activating the desire and the need to grow, especially in a field like ours". Gratitude, in short, as a widespread existential attitude and stimulus "to do better everything we do, in all fields".

Hence, the twenty-second edition of the Taste Market in Maglie - that of the real restart, of the restart after a period made of limits, but also of great reflections: a growth crisis - will present itself in the traditional structure full of streets and squares dedicated to the goodness (which invariably generate Gratitude) of Puglia: workshops, dinners in the villa and much more. With the good and the beautiful of Puglia's agri-food production to invade the historic center of Maglie with flavors, aromas and sounds from 1 to 5 August , as usual. And obviously in compliance with all relevant regulations.

Doors open on Sunday 1st August, starting at 7.30 pm, in the streets of the historic center of Maglie, where the artisans of taste and their products will be on stage in the Piazza del Vino, Via della Gastronomia, Via del Benessere, Via dell'Olio, Via dei Dolci, L'Angolo del Caffè and Piazzetta del Gelato, Street food and craft beer, Il Fornello - Hostaria di Puglia, Pasta Experience, Off Taste Market, Santese Fashion. At 8.30 pm in Piazza Aldo Moro, instead, cutting of the ribbon in the presence of the President of the Region Michele Emiliano , the President of the Regional Council Loredana Capone , the Regional Councilor for Economic Development Alessandro Delli Noci , the Mayor of Maglie Ernesto Toma , the Councilor to the Culture of the Municipality of Maglie Roberta Iasella.

Following the delivery of the Mercatino del Gusto 2021 awards, this year attributed to the president of Federturismo Marina Lalli , to Girolamo D'Amico, Louis Rapini and Ulrico Priore , creators of the Cantina D'Araprì in San Severo, to architects and designers Roberto Marcatti and Cintya Concari, to Maria Lucia Seracca Guerrieri Portaluri , organizer of the exhibition "Handicraft of excellence", to the communication expert Luigi Partipilo: appointment at Palazzo De Marco, in via Ospedale 23.

Every evening starting at 7.30 pm in the streets of the historic center of Maglie, an appointment with the artisans of taste and their products in the Piazza del Vino, Via della Gastronomia, Via del Benessere, Via dell'Olio, Via dei Dolci, L'Angolo del Caffè and Piazzetta del Gelato, Street Food and Craft Beer, Il Fornello - Hostaria di Puglia, Pasta Experience, Off Taste Market, Santese Fashion.

JUNIOR MARKET ... FROM THE GARDEN TO THE TABLE

2-3-4-5 August from 19.00 to 20.30 Liceo Capece. Free admission

From an idea by Elisa Mele, with Roberto Aloisio the educational workshops to learn to understand the seasonality of fruit and vegetables, the first step towards a true culture of sustainability. During the meetings the advantages deriving from respecting the cycles of the season in cultivating and buying the products of the earth will be illustrated; it will be illustrated what can be planted and cultivated in the garden every month and the edible plants that are found in the uncultivated land will be indicated. At the end, a small tasting of seasonal fruits will follow.
