The tenth edition of the Independent Winegrowers' Wine Market in Piacenza has been postponed to 2021 due to the worsening of the emergency situation linked to Covid-19. The decision of the Italian Federation of Independent Winegrowers was taken, in agreement with Piacenza Expo, considering the current increase in infections and the period in which the market would take place. However, on Sunday 29 November , the date on which the event should have been held in Piacenza, the Federation of Winegrowers launched the initiative Una Domenica dal Vignaiolo : a day in which the participating Independent Winegrowers will host colleagues from other areas of Italy in their cellar. and they will open the doors to visitors. “The desire not to give up - affirms the FIVI president Matilde Poggi - and to give a strong signal of recovery pushed us this summer to confirm the November 2020 dates of the Wine Market. After long and heartfelt reflections, however, the conviction prevailed that at this moment safety and common sense must have priority. We do our part by avoiding gatherings, but we do not give up the possibility of creating alternative opportunities to meet safer and more contained supporters and enthusiasts ”. On the same wavelength, the Sole Administrator of Piacenza Expo Giuseppe Cavalli reaffirms the common commitment: "Piacenza Expo and FIVI continue their collaboration and are already working to plan the 2021 edition. In this particular period, still full of uncertainties for major trade fairs, it was considered smart not to foresee the tenth edition at the end of November this year. An appointment only postponed for the more than 700 winemakers who had already signed up as exhibitors ". Three other events, designed to keep alive the bond between winemakers and enthusiasts, will take place during the month of November. On the 4th, 11th and 18th there will be Wednesdays at Vignaioli's , meeting evenings in the FIVI Affection points , or the wine bars and restaurants that sell and support FIVI winemakers. A Wednesday from Vignaioli , is the project born four years ago to be able to taste the wines and explain to enthusiasts, restaurateurs and sommeliers the reality of the association, who are the Independent Winegrowers, what they do and what are the different stories behind each bottle.
