Just a few days to go until the major event uniting the world of wine (with the sixth edition of Oltrepò Terra di Pinot Nero) and flavors (with the second edition of Oltregusto). Organized by the Consorzio Vini Oltrepò Pavese, the event marks the collaboration between the winemaking community, fine dining, and the food industry, with a rich program ranging from industry events to shared moments open to the public.
In the spotlight is Pinot Noir—in its classic method DOCG version and Classese and DOC red—which in 2026 definitively established itself as the most widely planted variety in Oltrepò Pavese, the Italian cradle of this grape variety with approximately 70% of the entire national production.
Alongside him, 18 local restaurants and as many Michelin-starred chefs from Italy and around the world, as well as 29 partners who will offer tastings of typical dishes and gastronomic curiosities and more.
The aim of the event is to highlight the winemaking and food excellence of the region, home to Blanc de Noirs (and Rosé de Noirs), promoted thanks to the Classese brand and the synergy of numerous stakeholders, from wineries to restaurants.
The Oltrepò Terra di Pinot Nero program
Open to professionals and the press, Oltrepò Terra di Pinot Nero will open on Monday, September 7th in the enchanting setting of the Teatro Valentino Garavani in Voghera (PV). The inauguration will take place at 9:30 a.m., followed by a technical masterclass led by Alessandro Masnaghetti , the most authoritative creator of viticultural maps. He will delve deeper into the study and mapping work carried out in the area over the past few months, which has led to the creation of a short volume on the main aspects shaping the winemaking landscape and the essential 2D and 3D maps of the Oltrepò Pavese.
Oltrepò Terra di Pinot Nero then continues in the garden of the Gallini Institute in Voghera , a temple of agricultural education since 1894. Here, from 11 am to 5 pm, the tasting stands of 32 wineries will be open, offering tastings to the press and professionals of over one hundred labels of Classese, Metodo Classico dell'Oltrepò Pavese DOCG and Pinot Nero dell'Oltrepò Pavese DOC.
At the same time, two blind tasting sessions of Oltrepò Blanc de Noirs and Rosé de Noirs will be available, one in the morning from 12:00 for the press and the other in the afternoon from 2:30 pm for professionals. This will provide an opportunity to gain a thorough understanding of the appellation, particularly with regards to Classese.
The protagonists of the day will be the wineries, in strict alphabetical order: Alessio Brandolini, Bosco Longhino, Bruno Verdi, Cà del Gé, Calatroni, Cantina Taia, Cantine Cavallotti, Castello di Cigognola, Conte Vistarino, Cordero San Giorgio, Fiamberti, Finigeto, Francesco Quaquarini, Giorgi, La Genisia, La Piotta, La Travaglina, Lefiole, Lozza, Monsupello, Montelio, Oltrenero, Picchi, Pietro Torti, Prime Alture, Rossetti & Scrivani, Scuropasso, Tenuta Frecciarossa, Tenuta Mazzolino, Tenuta Travaglino, Terre Bentivoglio, and Torre degli Alberi.
The OltreGusto program
On Monday 7th and Tuesday 8th September, from 7pm to midnight, visitors will be able to enjoy a unique taste experience, continuing to taste the DOCG and DOC wines of the Oltrepò Pavese , but also meeting the best restaurateurs in the area and discovering excellent products thanks to the presence of the event's partner companies.
Each evening, there will be five wine tastings and nine tastings from as many Oltrepò restaurants , offering hot and cold, sweet and savory dishes from their finest repertoire. Alongside these, there will also be cooking demonstrations with Michelin-starred Italian chefs and distinguished guests, who will take turns on stage preparing their creations live.
The meetings will be hosted by Carlo Passera, editorial coordinator of Identità Golose, who will guide the audience through the chefs' recipes, techniques, and culinary philosophies.
The preparations made during the shows will then be offered to participants in finger food format, allowing them to enjoy a complete gastronomic experience.
The union of the two events allows us to jointly promote the excellence of the area, highlighting the quality of Pinot Noir wines (and more) and the food and wine heritage that thrives on these hills at the foot of the Apennines.
