“AMARONE OPERA PRIMA” AT THE GRAN GUARDIA IN VERONA THE TWO DAYS DEDICATED TO THE 2019 VINTAGE

Countdown to the 20th edition of "Amarone Opera Prima", the event dedicated to the great Veneto red wine organized by the Consorzio Vini Valpolicella scheduled at the Gran Guardia in Verona, on 3 and 4 February, which will put the spotlight on the 2019 vintage of king of Valpolicella.

"We are pleased - explains the president of the Consorzio Vini Valpolicella, Christian Marchesini - to launch, again this year, our flagship event, capable of always representing an unparalleled opportunity for journalists, sector operators, enthusiasts and participating companies. A moment of dialogue and exchange, which allows you to immerse yourself in tasting one of the most iconic Italian fine wines, celebrating its extraordinary excellence and versatility".

The event will open on Saturday 3 February with an inaugural conference reserved for the press and accredited guests, during which the state of the art of the denomination will be presented. Immediately afterwards, the long-awaited opening of the tasting tables will begin, kicking off two days of discovery and tasting.

Over 2400 companies including winemakers, winemakers and bottlers on a production area that extends across 19 municipalities in the province of Verona, from Valpolicella to the city of Verona which holds the record for the largest urban vineyard in the country, 8600 hectares of vineyards and a tour turnover of over 600 million euros, of which more than half related to the performance of Amarone. It is the snapshot of the Consortium for the protection of Valpolicella wines which, with over 80% representativeness, protects and promotes the denomination in Italy and around the world.

The Consortium for the Protection of Valpolicella Wines is one of the partners of the European campaign “That's Amore – European lifestyle: taste wonderfood” , which aims to promote and encourage the diffusion and knowledge on the Italian, German and Czech Republic markets of certified products with high quality and food safety standards as well as strongly representative of the territory of origin and production. In addition to the wines protected by the Valpolicella Consortium such as Amarone della Valpolicella DOCG, Valpolicella DOC, Valpolicella Ripasso DOC and Recioto della Valpolicella DOCG, the other protagonists of the campaign are some of the flagships of Made in Italy such as Asiago cheese DOP, the Vialone Veronese PGI Nano Rice, the Garda DOP extra virgin olive oil, the Tergeste DOP extra virgin olive oil and the Veneto DOP extra virgin olive oil, all varieties protected by the Verona Oil Producers Association.

THE CONSORTIUM FOR THE PROTECTION OF VALPOLICELLA WINES

Active for over 90 years (9 February 1925), the Consortium for the Protection of Valpolicella Wines represents 344 companies of bottlers and processors of the renowned Veronese DOP, for a supply chain that includes 6 cooperative wineries, 2,251 agricultural companies producing grapes. Through daily contact with companies and a deep-rooted knowledge of the territory, he has established himself as the reference interlocutor for anyone who wants to discover Valpolicella and its wines. In addition to guaranteeing the service of safeguarding and protecting the denomination, the Consortium deals with the valorisation and promotion of Valpolicella wines on the national and foreign markets: Amarone della Valpolicella DOCG, Recioto della Valpolicella DOCG, Valpolicella Ripasso DOC and Valpolicella DOC.
