FederBio on the honey scam: organic fraud harms everyone; stopping it is a priority.

Investigations have confirmed that the Verona-based company involved sold over 7 quintals of honey falsely labeled as organic between 2024 and 2025.

FederBio has always supported law enforcement in the fight against organic fraud. We thank the Carabinieri of the Agri-Food Protection Units of Verona and Florence for uncovering the fake organic honey scam.

The Federation reiterates the urgency of adopting the Italian organic label, an essential tool for promoting and immediately recognizing the authenticity of Italian organic products, obtained from raw materials grown or raised in Italy. Furthermore, it proposes innovating control systems by integrating advanced digital technologies capable of ensuring continuous and precise production monitoring and clear and transparent traceability, even in the most complex supply chains.

" For this reason, we thank the law enforcement agencies whose investigations uncovered this scam. This is a serious incident, as it represents a form of unfair competition to the detriment of all serious producers who invest in truly organic products. Furthermore, it undermines the trust of citizens who choose organic for their health and the protection of the planet. The fraud discovered in Verona confirms, once again, the urgent need to innovate the system of controls, making them increasingly comprehensive and rigorous throughout the entire supply chain. At the same time, we must strengthen enforcement against those who attempt to unfairly exploit the organic label, ensuring maximum transparency and strengthening a sector that sees Italy as a leading European country."
