The Milanese appointment of the rich program of events of “ Sicily European Region of Gastronomy 2025 ” that will take place throughout the year ended yesterday. A unique event that was held at Identità Golose Milano , which saw the Consortium for the protection of DOC Sicilia wines participate with the assortment of bouvettes dedicated to the administration of Denomination wines throughout the weekend, as well as with tastings guided by the oenologist Gianni Giardina of IRVO
The opening press conference was held on March 7 at 11 am and was moderated by Nino Amadore of “Il Sole 24 Ore” . Institutional representatives of the Sicilian Region and the Ministry of Agriculture spoke, to underline the strategic value of European recognition and the central role of the wine sector.
During the event, many moments of in-depth study offered visitors a sensory journey through the authentic flavors of Sicilian wines, highlighting the variety and quality of the wine production protected by the Consortium.
Camillo Pugliesi, Director of the Consortium, states: “ The DOC Sicilia is the symbol of a territory rich in traditions, which knows how to combine innovation and respect for its roots. In Milan we had the opportunity to taste some of the excellences of Sicilian viticulture .”
The event also included moments dedicated to debate and training , with talks , show cooking and awards that involved renowned chefs , journalists and academics . The candidacy of Sicilian gastronomy as a World Heritage Site was one of the central themes of the meeting on March 7 at 4:30 pm, attended by experts in the sector and personalities from the academic world.
The presence of the Consortium for the protection of DOC Sicilia wines in Milan represented a unique opportunity to promote the island's winemaking quality and strengthen the link between viticulture and Sicilian gastronomic heritage , in a year that celebrates Sicily as the capital of taste in Europe.
