ANICAV , the National Association of Vegetable Food Preserves, and EZ Lab srl , an innovative SME specialized in advanced digital solutions for the Smart Agri-food sector, have launched an experimental Tomato Blockchain project which, thanks to the use of blockchain technology, aims to enhance the production of quality tomatoes, guaranteeing their origin, safety and social values to be transferred to the final consumer, certifying all the steps in the production and transformation process.
The project will be launched in two pilot companies associated with ANICAV, one in the North basin, Rodolfi Mansueto Spa, and the other in the Central South basin, Compagnia Mercantile d'Oltremare Srl, which will involve one or more OPs.
EZ Lab has developed several Blockchain solutions dedicated to the Agri Food sector, such as the AgriChain and AgriOpenData software platforms for the traceability and digital certification of agricultural products and the entire agri-food chain.
"As an Association - he declares Giovanni De Angelis, General Manager of ANICAV - we have decided to implement an ad hoc pilot project that takes into account the peculiarities of the industrial tomato supply chain, the real needs of our companies and the demands of consumers in terms of quality and safety. Our hope is that Tomato Blockchain can become a model that can be replicated to the entire sector by offering consumers, thanks to the integration of blockchain technology, maximum transparency and guarantee on the quality of our products. "
"Proud and proud of the opportunity to develop this project with ANICAV - declares Massimo Morbiato, CEO and founder of EZ Lab - an association attentive to the needs of its members, the community, the environment and which wants to guarantee transparency and trust EZ Lab uses all its expertise in the field of blockchain, a technology that we are among the first to have successfully applied to the real economy, with its over 40 traceability projects in various supply chains on agrifood and other sectors. ".
The application of this technology will also favor the foreign marketing of made in Italy production, contributing to the fight against counterfeiting and "Italian Sounding". Furthermore, monitoring via blockchain will be useful in guaranteeing the entire supply chain and identifying illegal hiring phenomena or unfair practices towards the environment and local communities.
