A FISH HAS NEVER FELT SO GOOD OUT OF WATER: COD IN SENSOVIA, THE NEW SENSORY TRAIL IN ALTA LANGA

  • 08/06/2026

The new itinerary for the whole family in Albaretto della Torre is a local tourism proposal that combines physical activity, gastronomic excellence and natural beauty.

Cod in SensoVia is a name that certainly raises some questions, perhaps a bit of confusion, but above all, a lot of curiosity. What does cod have to do with landlocked Piedmont? The answer lies in history.

Everything will surely be clearer if we tell you that, once upon a time, the ancient Salt Road connected Piedmont to the sea, bringing with it trade, flavors, and stories. It was a road traveled by wayfarers and merchants of anchovies, cod, and salt cod, who stopped in villages along the way, bringing a touch of the outside world to lands far from the coast.

Today, history forms the backdrop to the new "Merluzzo in SensoVia" itinerary, a 4-kilometer route —promoted by the Municipality of Albaretto della Torre in Alta Langa and conceived and led by the LoveLanghe agency—divided into five stages , each dedicated to one of the five senses. A walk suitable for everyone, designed for the community, families, and anyone looking to spend a fun day outdoors, exploring the nuances of the Alta Langa. Along the route—officially inaugurated on May 1st— quizzes, games, and multimedia content offer a world to discover, adaptable for both children and adults, combining nature, history, traditions, and the gastronomic excellence of the Langhe. For those who want to stop and savor the local cuisine, SensoVia offers several options: picnics, brunches, tastings, and aperitifs featuring locally sourced products, or a personalized box to take home.

Following its official opening, Merluzzo in SensoVia is ready to welcome guests for the summer season. In a tourism landscape heavily impacted by factors such as less time available for travel, fewer financial resources, and traditional destinations increasingly inaccessible due to overtourism, proximity tourism is gaining ground. The idea is to discover or revisit destinations close to home, which involve fewer logistical challenges, lower costs, and above all, allow for a fulfilling experience without the hassle of a complex journey. Merluzzo in SensoVia responds to this rationale, positioning itself as a destination for positive experiential tourism with a comprehensive offering, encompassing nature and the senses, from flavor to movement, from traditions to the concept of community, from sustainability to mindfulness.

Accessible year-round , the route can be explored at your own pace and in complete freedom, or experienced through the LoveLanghe and SensoVia experiences: from cod-fishing (see more details below), picnics, and tastings, every moment becomes an opportunity to connect with the authentic soul of the area. The five senses that define the stages of the route were developed with the involvement of the entire region, and are:

1. Sight – Panoramic bridge: observation of the village and the surrounding ecosystem 2. Hearing – Early 20th-century washhouse: listening to the sounds of nature and the elements 3. Smell – Roveri Forest: introduction to the Alba white truffle and mushrooms 4. Touch – Hazelnut groves: discovery of the Piedmont PGI Hazelnut 5. Taste – Beehives and rurality: journey into the world of bees, honey and taste buds
