Via Osan, 45
37022 Fumane (Verona)
Italy
Corteforte was built at the beginning of the fifteenth century, in a strategic point in the valley of Fumane, in the district of Osan. It was originally made up of four side towers connected by a high wall in stone and was an important defensive garrison against the incursions from the north.

In the seventeenth century the estate became owned by a noteworthy family of Verona, that turned it into a noble countryside residence. It was embellished with decorations and expanded with the construction of cottages. Of the four towers, now there is only a crenellated tower.

The estate was completely restored in late 80s and partly converted into a farmhouse inn and wine cellar.

Under the old buildings there the is the old wine cellar, used for the fining of wine in the bottle. The modern vinification was built in a modern and adjoining cottage, with controlled temperature, to allow wine to ferment and mature in basins made of steel, before moving on to a long aging in tonneaux and oak barrels. The oak barrels are of 3.5 hl while those of French oak range from 5 to 25 hl.
