One of the most renowned wineries in Southern Italy, the Venosa Winery, a company in the homonymous town in Lucania. The Venosa Winery was founded in 1957 by 27 founding members, by the will, the perseverance, the ability of aggregation of this group of vinegrowers which has meant that today the winery has 500 members, with an area of ​​about 900 hectares, the majority in the Municipality of Venosa, the largest producer of Aglianico grapes in the Vulture area. The facilities available are at the forefront, but technique, love and care are the traditional ones: a careful management of members in harvesting operations, selection of the best grapes, attention in the early stages of maceration and fermentation, meticolousness in the early stages of aging, in which Aglianico is transferred into French oak barrels and casks to get the superior quality for which it excels. Aglianico was introduced in Italy by the Greeks at the time of the foundation of Cumae or so later, while the transformation of the Hellenic name in Hellanica and then in Aglianico can be traced back to the late fifteenth century, at the time domain of Aragon in the Kingdom of Naples. Refinement and delicacy both in taste and in the aroma that characterizes grapes, which can capture the variety grown in hilly areas of the Vulture area, requirements that recognized the Aglianico del Vulture of the Designation of Controlled Origin.
