Since the eighties we realized that an extraordinary elevation of the quality can be achieved through a reduced yield per vine (very low for the top wines and moderate for the classic wines), obtainable through a severe
thinning of the bunches: we were among the first in Piedmont to adopt strictly that method. Finally, making the harvest following indices of phenolic ripeness has allowed us to produce wines with higher concentration and with more well–proportioned flavors. The vineyard, extended in a large terroir, together with a detailed and passionate management of it, are the true secrets to produce great quality.

We have always placed as primary objectives to grow vineyards only in prestigious hills and to devote our major efforts to the attentive cultivation of the same, trying to make operational improvements.

Our philosophy is to produce wines whose characteristics faithfully represent the variety of backgrounds and their terroir, but in which the scents of wood stand never out, to produce wines that are rich, very elegant and never sickening.

All of our high–quality red wines (Barolo, Barbaresco and its crus, Barbera d’Asti and La Court) are bottled without being subjected to filtration in advance, in order to maintain the integrity of both their original heritage of bouquets, and their wealth.

All our red wines of long life are subjected to an appropriate and long aging in bottle (to protect them from light and at a constant temperature), in order to make them develop slowly heady scents and make their flavors to harmonize nicely.
