Much of the land is planted close to the sea in the best suited land of "Primitivo" di Manduria and this happens in the towns of Sava, Lizzano and Maruggio.
The territory is characterized by red soil, rich in minerals and iron sesquioxide that give it its characteristic color. The vineyards are characterized by non–irrigated trees and an average age of 30 years with a peak of 50/60 years in the reserves.
