Consorzio Tutela Vini Oltrepò Pavese

In April of 1959 what would later become the Consortium for the Protection of the Oltrepò Pavese Wines started to operate.


Everything began from a conference at the end of which it was decided to lay the foundations for an organization of producers. Even at that time the importance to create sharing, to look to the future, to defend an identity was understood. Everything started from an association of producers, officially established on August 4th, 1960 (ten years before the Doc), which was designed to enhance and protect the wines of Oltrepò Pavese. Its slogan was: Here the wine wine.




In 1977, the Consortium became Oltrepò Pavese DOC wines Voluntary Consortium and had as its first president Antonio Giuseppe Denari, illustrious and visionary protagonist of one of the most important historical moments of the wine production of the Oltrepò area. Since then, the consortium has expanded its areas of intervention, in cooperation with institutional bodies starting from the Ministry of Agriculture.



Among its actions of protection of the Oltrepò wines, the Consortium fights for the protection of the products and their quality, with particular attention to their origin. No coincidence that from the 2007 harvest the Metodo Classico bubbles of Oltrepà Pavese obtained the DOCG. Today the Consortium helps manufacturers to explore new scenarios, making communication and marketing, exporting the territorial that the Oltrepò wine can express. With this purpose, they have developed targeted communications campaigns, and others are under study.



The consortium produces events and tastings but is also co–protagonist of events on a local, regional, national and international levels.



Oltrepò Pavese is a designation spread over 13,500 hectares of land.
