I am Giorgio Badin and together with my family I am the owner and the tenant of Ronco del Gelso.
Mine is a company of about twenty hectares of vineyards located in Cormons, a village at the foot of the hills of the Collio of Gorizia, in the Friuli Venezia Giulia region. My vineyards are located in that short stretch of plains that goes from the hills to the Adriatic Sea, a few kilometers far. The soils are thin, stony, dry, ideal for the cultivation of vines. The climate is tempered by sea breezes and mountains to the north, that protect us from cold winds. Thanks to this particular microclimate, here we produce mainly white wines with good structure and aromatic quality and some red ones, as our tradition says.
EDI KEBER winery is a family-owned business that produces high-quality wines using traditional methods. The winery is known for its attention to detail in every step of the winemaking process, from selecting the grapes to aging the wine in oak barrels. "Vigna del Lauro" (or Laurel Tree Vineyard) was born in 1994 through a collaboration with one of my closest friends, Eberhard Spangenberg, a German importer of fine Italian wines.
The name comes from an old estate planted with Tocai Friulano grapes. The vines are surrounded by centuries-old bay laurels: their leaves fill the vineyards with intense, spicy fragrance.
The estate covers roughly 10 hectars in the township of Cormons, situated in the Collio and Isonzo DOCs (partly owned and partly leased).
The estate is run by my family: myself, my wife Daniela and our two sons, Matteo and Enrico. Our main focus is respect and care for the fruit itself. We consider this approach essential in expressing the varietal traits of each wine and celebrating the originality of our terroir.
The Aldo Polencic company is actually a small family–run company; the small size of the land allows a more attentive care of the vineyards, and then a final product of high quality.

Drius is now and always has been a united family. This strength gives an added value to their constantly dedicated mastery in a gradual passing from father to son during the last few hundreds of years. Now Mauro is at the forefront of the “Città del Vino” winegrowing area of Cormons, in the heart of the DOC Collio and DOC Alto Isonzo and is in the prime of his career. Mauro has been able to enhance the traditional wine-growing methods passed on from his forefathers maintaining a balance in nature and respecting the environment. Together with his young wife Nadia – she herself coming from a Cormons winegrowing family, producers of good Collio wines – Mauro is gradually passing the know-how onto his children Denis (a future agrarian expert and enologist), Erika and Valentina and they in turn continue to represent a “natural and just right” production philosophy following a sparkling enthusiasm touched with fresh ideas and moving emotions. The grape come exclusively from Drius vineyard which are spread over approximately 15 hectares from the slopes of Quarin hill in the Collio area (between Brazzano and Cormòns) as far as the Isonzo river plain at the foot of the Collio marl soils and the gravely soils of the Isonzo plain are sheltered from the northerly wind by the Alps and enjoy the benefi cial climate effects of the sea, creatingideal condition for grape culture. The vines are grown with loving care to yield grapes of excellent quality, essential for producing the typical wines of the area. Stefano Bastiani runs the family business, run by his grandfather first and then by his father, thanks to his studies in oenology and especially the techniques learned from family tradition. The winery, recently restored, allows him to play in comfort all stages of production allowing products to grow qualitatively year after year.
