The Lis Fadis farm is located on the hills of Spessa di Cividale del Friuli (UD) in the DOC Colli Orientali del Friuli area. It is possible to visit the cellar and taste the wines produced. Lis Fadis, translated from Friuli "Le Fate", is one of the most beautiful wineries in Friuli Venezia Giulia, marked by an aesthetic taste of extreme elegance. The swimming pool with waterfall, the rooms embellished with period furniture, the stone construction of the cellar and the cottage recovered from ancient vestiges, the wine museum with unique pieces, make it an exceptional place in which to taste great indigenous and international wines here products. You reach this corner of paradise, in Spessa di Cividale, thanks to a road that climbs up the hill and leads to a valley protected by the edges of the forest and covered with luxuriant vines, with a millenary olive tree and ancient fruit trees of various qualities. It is always possible to book the visit and the tasting, which will be anticipated by the visit to the vineyard and the surrounding nature. In the summer, guests can enjoy the breathtaking view of the surroundings sitting in the sitting area of the house patio, savoring wines and typical products.
For more than 10 years I have been cultivating the land of Ganga following the principles of organic and biodynamic agriculture, trying to put the utmost attention on respecting the environment in which I work and live with my family. The management of the vineyards, from winter pruning to grape harvesting, is strictly manual. Pesticides for the defense against fungal diseases and parasites, as well as for the control of weeds, are banned. Not just no chemical fertilizers and weeding but sowing of poly essences, mowing and targeted green manure. The microbiological heritage of the soil is also enriched by contributions of self-produced compost with pruning waste. For several years, in collaboration with important European research centers, I have been developing cutting-edge methods to protect the vineyard ecosystem. Active ingredients authorized in organic viticulture, such as copper and sulfur, are used in micro doses and exclusively in particularly unfavorable years from a meteorological point of view. The use of herbal teas and macerates of herbs and plants or cynals, grown within the company, integrates the defense of the vine from cryptogams, in which microbiology is once again the master. Bacteria and fungi with defense and nutrition functions. Since July 2012 I have started the certification procedure of the organic production method with the BIOS control body. In the cellar, the processing of the grapes is carried out in an extremely delicate way, observing and conducting without exasperated intervention.
The Bessich farm was founded in 1959 by grandfather Antonio, who arrived with his family from Istria. Antonio together with his son Luciano immediately began to produce the first wines, until in the early part of the seventies they specialize particularly in this production. Since 1991 the company has been run by Luciano's children: Daniela, Alessandra, Roberto and Fabio who, under the direction of their mother Giuditta, continue the project of their grandfather Antonio and their father Luciano with dedication. The Bessich Winery is located in the western part of Friuli, in the land of the "GRAVE" of Pordenone, from which it derives the name "DOC GRAVE". These soils are typically gravelly with limited productions that give very intense and characteristic wines. Today the company has an extension of 19 hectares, all cultivated with vines from which fifteen qualities of DOC Friuli Grave wine are produced, five qualities with Typical Geographical Indication, and three grapes of our exclusive.
The Paolo De Lorenzi Wines Company is located in the heart of the Alto Veneto and Bassa Friulana wine-growing region, in the DOC Lison Pramaggiore, and is 20 km from the provincial capital Pordenone. The company was born as an individual company for the production and trade of wine with a Controlled Designation of Origin, with Typical Geographical Indication and table. Maintaining a family structure it expands its dimension by specializing and directly controlling the bottling and marketing of a selected product. Today, with the experience of over forty years of activity, the Paolo De Lorenzi Wines Company is able to offer high quality DOC Lison Pramaggiore, DOC Friuli Grave and IGT wines with its own brand.
The company consists of 11 hectares of vineyards, of which 9 around the company center. It lies on the gentle hillside of the Collio with a northern exposure. This position accompanied by the marly soil (ponca) gives an excellent freshness to white wines. The company has specialized in the whites, with a particular focus on sauvignon. 40,000 vines grow on 11 hectares of vineyards. With a land improvement, which is already underway, in a few years there will be 50,000 on the same surface. Here about 700 quintals of grapes are produced per year. This means that the focus is on the highest quality. The harvest is strictly manual to maintain the highest quality. Currently in the bottles signed by Ivan VogriÄ we find Friulano, Sauvignon, Chardonnay and Cabernet sauvignon as a red, which ages in oak barrels for 2 years. MÃ s is a young company, so we also wanted a fresh and young look for the wines. We like to think that design is not a useless attribute, but a true value, together with the quality of the wine and a healthy dose of irony. After all, these are the things we share today with the people who appreciate us. We have chosen to produce 4 single grape varieties and 2 blends. MÃ s today means Pinot Grigio, Friulano, Shiro, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Aka. The vineyards are planted with a high density and the pruning carried out in a "meticulous" way, to accustom the plants to work at their best thus obtaining a low yield per vine.
Founded in 1975, Borgo Conventi owes its name to an ancient legend of Farra d'Isonzo: historical documents state that a landowner, Count Strassoldo, known as "il Rizzardo", had donated a plot of land to a certain friar Basilio Pica. On this land the Dominican fathers would have built what is considered the first of a series of monasteries in the province of Farra d'Isonzo. From here "Borgo Conventi". Today the vineyards of Borgo Conventi extend over 40 hectares, divided between two of the most important DOC of the region: Collio Goriziano and Isonzo. The annual production exceeded three hundred thousand bottles, divided between Collio DOC, Isonzo DOC and Venezia Giulia IGT.
The cellar is located next to the Venetian villa De Claricini; its construction dates back to the 19th century and has recently undergone careful restoration. The floor was redone in quartz concrete while the walls were freed from the old mortars to highlight the stones and the structure of the wall. The ceiling is made up of the old wooden beams and fir boards. The fixtures have been completely recovered. The cellar is divided into three sectors: reception of the grapes and de-stemming, vinification in steel barrels, aging and storage in wooden barrels. De Claricini wines are born from carefully selected grapes from the proprietary vineyards that arrive in the ancient cellar for vinification and maturation. With the same passion of the Claricini counts, the de Claricini Foundation they set up continues to produce quality wines, combining the most modern winemaking techniques with the Friulian wine tradition.
A "real" wine is born from the encounter between a man, his vines and the climate: from this union he obtains character and originality. In the heart of the Friulian Riviera, there is the ancient village of Modeano, already the site of a rustic villa in Roman times. At the beginning of the twentieth century Norberto Marzotto, a scholar of agronomy and viticulture, laid the foundations of the vineyard and the cellar, creating a model company. Gabriele Vialetto and his wife Emanuela manage the company with passion, trying to make it a solid reality for their children. The modern and air-conditioned cellar occupies the long farmhouse that borders the courtyard with the main house and the small church dedicated to the Madonna del Rosario. The conformation of the territory, the rich and deep soils and the climate mitigated by the proximity of the sea make Modeano the ideal place to produce wines rich in flavors, aromas and colors.
In Spessa, in the heart of the Colli Orientali del Friuli, on top of a hill covered with vineyards, there is our house and our company. A story of love for nature, vines and wine, started by grandfather Ermenegildo, familiarly called "Gildo", many years ago and continued by his children and grandchildren, in the name of quality and tradition. Our “little ancient world†is this: twenty-five hectares of cappuccina vineyards, mostly on terraces, cultivated with manual techniques. A winery that combines ancient techniques and modern technologies, in which wines are born that reflect the most typical Friulian wine culture, yet at the same time rich in personality: taste them and you will see that they will fascinate you too.
The Filippi family has always been passionately dedicated to the careful transformation of grapes into wine. The company produces the grapes from which the gems of the Friulian tradition are obtained and is always happy to host those who wish to delight their palates with top quality products. The Casali Aurelia company is part of the Friuli Annia DOC Consortium, whose geographical area is crossed by the state road 14, the ancient Strada Annia, built in 131 BC. The viticultural vocation of the area was already known and appreciated during the Roman period as it is testified by historians of the time, as well as by the discovery in many archaeological sites of rustic villas and residential buildings with notable finds of wine amphorae.
Of peasant heritage for several generations, the Di Gaspero family has always developed the cultivation of vines and wine production. Enhancing the ancient fruit of their land, through modern agronomic techniques, not forgetting the tradition, was the main aim of Eugenio (founder of the company), continued by his sons Giosué and Mario and today continued by the current owners, the grandchildren Flavia and Umberto. The remaining members of the family participate in the life of the farm. Welcoming customers and friends, managing the home and hospitality: their commitment completes and enriches the company's business. Everything takes place in the shade of the large tree, which has now become a symbol of the Di Gaspero family. Thanks to the unity of the family and the love for their land, this company is able to provide a quality product, made with the passion of the past. The cultivation and care of the vine are carried out mainly by hand, referring to tradition. They are flanked by more modern techniques, while the use of pesticides is as limited as possible, with a view to low environmental impact. The first autumn sees the fruit of an entire year's commitment: it is time for the harvest, carried out entirely by hand. The cellar work follows, which also blends the new and the old. The modern equipment and the shiny steel tanks are placed side by side with the classic oak barrels, where the wines mature and complement each other.
The manor house and the cellars "FOLADORS" have obtained the bond of the Fine Arts by virtue of their particular historical interest and the "style" of the company reflects the elegant and quiet grace of this area of the Friuli countryside. The whites Sauvignon, Chardonnay and Tocai Friulano and the reds Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc are grown and produced in a controlled designation of origin. From Chardonnay, with good results, Brut, a sparkling wine, was obtained. A new Refosco dal peduncolo rosso plant is also planned.
More than twenty years have passed since its foundation. Since then Valchiarò has seen a constant growth in the range and above all in the quality of the product. This has allowed the achievement of prestigious awards from the most important guides and a rapid introduction of the wines in the Italian and international markets. In 2006 the new cellar was inaugurated, a modern and large structure located in a wonderful natural context. The next goal is to significantly increase production in compliance with the quality standards achieved through new vines that will soon begin to bear fruit. From its birth in 1991 until its evolution in the new headquarters in Togliano, the only “fuel†that made the company grow was love and passion.
The Colmello di Grotta company was founded in 1965 by the passion and will of Luciana Bennati who managed, in a short time, to restore, in the Piugrave; total respect for local traditions, an old and abandoned small village. The size is deliberately reduced, consumption limited to family members, friends, a few close friends. After the death of Luciana Bennati, the company is led by her daughter Francesca Bortolotto Possati, also linked to Colmello di Grotta by the same passion as her mother, with the intention of bringing the company to the top of Friulian production. The work is animated by the awareness that to achieve this goal it is necessary to continuously commit, looking for new ways to improve all aspects of company products. The company includes 21 hectares of vineyards, half of which are located in the Collio Doc area and half in the Isonzo Doc area. The wines have almost two powerful and masculine personalities the Collio wines, fascinating and feminine those of the Isonzo. The recent addition of new vineyards marks the beginning of a new phase of expansion of the company, setting new ambitious goals in the new century. The vineyards are distributed equally between the two Doc Collio and Isonzo and, despite being very close to each other, have completely different soils. It is perhaps the main characteristic of the company that manages to produce wines with two personalities in their own right. The calcareous-gravelly soil of the Isonzo gives life to wines with an elegant structure, combined with a concentrated intensity of aromas. The marly-sandstone soils of the Collio instead enhance the complexity of the aromas and the bursting structure of the palate.
