The Tiberio family has been devoted for tradition and passion to the wine world for several years, and overlooked the market directly in 2005. Each of its members, after direct experiences of a different kind, over the years developed the interest in creating their own business.
Therefore, after years of research, in 2000 succeeded in finding a farm that for its specific morphological exposure and altitude corresponded to the coveted requirements.
In the same year, the family acquired the aforesaid company of 31 hectares and initiated a collaborative project with one of the most prestigious Italian nurseries in order to trace, through chemical analysis, a detailed and broad picture of the composition of the soil, so as to manage in the best way its potentialities.
The cooperation with them not only included a careful selection and choice of grape varieties, clones and rootstocks, but it also initiated a collaboration work with the Institute of Agriculture and Viticulture and Oenology of the University of Bologna, to select and restore ancient vineyards of the area. After much research, in 2001, vineyards were planted. For each type of grape variety, the most suitable land lot were chosen, with the proper protocol management.
The first news about the origins of the ancient farm date back to 1793. The beautiful hunting lodge was brought as a dowry by the noble Adelina Ruggeri De’ Capobianchi to her illustrious husband Raffaele Castorani. The fame of the celebrated surgeon, for many years a professor at Sorbonne in Paris and the inventor of the first technique of cataract surgery, invested in the estate in itself, which, since then, has been named Villa Castorani.
Subsequently, the property of the farmhouse passed to another distinguished professor, Antonio Casulli. Of Sardinian origin, Casulli was Professor of International Law at the University of Naples and later at that of Tokyo, where he conquered the personal estimate of the Emperor Hiroito. This was the most successful period for the farm arisen around the villa, with an expansion of over two hundred hectares of cultivated farmland. After the death of Casulli, in the 60s, the property was divided and a decline began: the villa was abandoned and the old traditions of vinegrowing and winemaking traditions of the past seemed to be lost.
So it was, until a few years ago, when the plots of ancient history were tied again thanks to the tenacious will of a group of friends, the current members of the Castorani company. Each member is responsible in first person for the different phases of winemaking: from loving cultivation of grapes to careful harvesting, from wine production to promotion and marketing. Combining passion for good wine with the desire to create a marketing campaign dedicated to a production of quality, the company operates in full compliance with the ancient farmers’ values that for centuries have animated these country lands, in the wake of an ancient history of devotion to the generous Abruzzo territory.
After years of passionate work, now the selection of wines by Castorani is the clear expression of an area devoted to the production of grapes of superb quality, with great passion transformed into wine through traditional techniques. Our bottles tell the hills at 350 meters above sea level in the municipality of Alanno, in the Province of Pescara, where the vineyards, nestled between the Majella National Park and the nearby Adriatic coast, enjoy excellent exposure to the sun and to the night winds, and temperature fluctuations between day and night that give grapes unique and precious features.
Today as in the past, everything revolves around the magnificent mansion that dominates the company, extending for about thirty hectares and nestled in a lush and unspoiled countryside. The vines cultivated are mainly Montepulciano d’Abruzzo, while the white grapes are Trebbiano d’Abruzzo, Malvasia, Cococciola, Pecorino and Passerina varieties, and a small area is left to the cultivation of experimental varieties.
The average age of the vines is over thirty years and all the farm land is cultivated with organic farming methods, without the use of pesticides and chemical fertilizers. In particular, vineyards are protected with biological pest control methods and are fed with natural fertilizers.
Fattoria La Valentina was founded in 1990, in the municipality of Spoltore, on the hills
near Pescara. Since 1994, after a number of changes among partners, here we came: Sabatino, Roberto and Andrea Di Properzio, to purchase the whole company. Between vineyards and winery, then our work in close contact with nature began. And so its results.
After the first years of study on the vineyards of Santa Teresa, the passion for the pursuit of quality and the desire to enhance the DOC Abruzzo took over becoming the main focus of the company.
We began to better understand our land respecting it and caring about it.
The result? Wines more healthy and true from the point of view of quality. Animated by the certainty that the real quality improvement should be done in strict compliance with the biological equilibrium, season after season, we strictly applied a philosophy
that leaves aside the rampant use of chemistry and technology.
In short, we are committed to intervene as little as possible in the processes of nature, sharing the idea that the prerequisite of the Doc is the signature of the vine on grapes. Ours is a work that allows the vine to express itself, guarantees the fertility of the earth, helps to make plants healthy so they can individually resist diseases and pests.
The wines of Fattoria La Valentina are produced by nature through the uniqueness of our terroir, which we try to respect even in the bottle. This is the secret of their originality. The Pizzolo family, from Verona, for generations have been engaged in agribusiness, where they have learned, among the first in Italy, to carry out successfully the idea of supply chain. Starting from the end of the 90s, they decided to extend the vineyards they owned and gave life to Valle Reale farming company, located in the town of Popoli and included in the National Parks of Gran Sasso and Maiella. It has all the elements that announce great qualitative potential: plenty of water, extreme temperature ranges, solid wealth of structure.

The company is managed directly by the third generation of family Patricelli, has many years experience in the wine sector. The tradition and the experience gained over the years allow us to guarantee the consumer a high quality standard. The vineyards cover an area of ??40 hectares according to the principles of integrated farming, with the minimum use of fertilizers and pesticides and with the utmost respect for the environment. Types of cultivation of the vine are used abbruzese the pergola and the cordon. The soil is clayey calcareous in nature with strong wine. The electricity used in the processes of vitificazione is self-produced by a photovoltaic system installed in the company.
Talamonti was founded in 2001 by the Di Tonno family, in a magnificent, unspoiled part of the Abruzzi. Our daily objective lies in constantly seeking the best interaction between the varietal in our vineyards, the sun-exposition, the training method, and the desired yield, with the sole desire to best express our unique terroir.
Talamonti vineyards at the turn of the century have expanded to 32 hectares in production in the municipality of Loreto Aprutino. In addition to the native Montepulciano d'Abruzzo and Trebbiano d'Abruzzo, other varietals have been planted. Pecorino, for example was planted in 2004 as part of an estate experiment to study the ability of other varieties to adapt and express themselves. Our vineyards circumnavigate our winery and are located at 300 meters above sea level with South East exposure in the Tavo Valley region.
The strength of the Company as producer is primarily based on its vineyards and their fruit. Vineyards that are distributed in different points of Tocco da Casauria, recently became sub-zone for the variety Montepulciano d'Abruzzo; recognition that demonstrates the very biodiversity of the land. It's from the vine and the territory that come the differences.
All the vineyards are steeped in "intense green" land surrounded by mountains where the air is full of intense scents of spices and flowers. In our wine it's possible to find the strong scent of this exuberant nature.
The art of wine making, between past and present.
A century of history tells the tale of the work and passion of Costantini for the art of wine making, a tradition centred on the lands of Abruzzo where, in 1910, the Costantini family started business as wine makers.
Over the years the Costantinis managed to increase the prestige of their products, respecting the environment, the most advanced farming techniques and the most accurate wine-making techniques.
Currently, Tenuta del Priore, which was founded in the seventies, has thirty hectares of vineyards on steep hills set in an amphitheater on the shores of an artificial lake.
The vineyard is 80% red grapes of predominantly Montepulciano variety of an old native strain and of new clones in the most recent vineyards. Trebbiano is very well placed in this environment, covering almost the entire space of white grapes.

The Valentini family has been owing the Loreto Aprutino farm of the same name, in the province of Pescara, since the middle of the seventeenth century. At the time, this noble family of Spanish origin was led by Antonio Valentini who in 1625 was appointed by Count Francesco Ferdinando D’Afflitto Viscount of Loreto, Collecorvino, Picciano and Moscufo. In the following decades, the company, particularly extensive would always be managed by the descendants of the Valentini family that next to the management of the company would carry out professions and hold, at the local level, important public offices. At the beginning of the nineteenth century, the agricultural vocation of the company was well defined. The production, as it is still today, was focused on wine (Trebbiano and Montepulciano in particular), cereals and oil and cattle breeding. In addition to wine, which was successful both on the domestic market, even the oil obtained from what was once the largest mill of Loreto Aprutino was sold both on site and outside Abruzzo. In 1868 Camillo Valentini was awarded at the Agricultural Exposition of the Abruzzo region for its vinegar, while in 1899 at Exposition – concours franco–italien of Nice, the company obtained a diploma of honor for its olive oil. Even in the early part of the twentieth century the company led by Edoardo Valentini would win many awards, such as the diploma (and 200,000 Lire) received in the national competition for the increase in productivity organized by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry. Currently, the company, which in 2011 was elected by the Vini D’Italia Guide "winery of the year", is managed by Francesco Paolo Valentini.
