On Monday, May 18, the artisanal herbal liqueur by Carlo Gargiulo and Angela Caliendo will close the dinner of Michelin-starred chef Peppe Guida of the Antica Osteria Nonna Rosa in Vico Equense, at the Museo Artistico Industriale.
This year, Amaro Don Carlo will be among the protagonists of the 18th edition of Wine&Thecity, scheduled for May 16th to 23rd in Naples , an independent cultural project conceived by Donatella Bernabò Silorata , which includes a rich calendar of widespread events where fine wine, design, art and fashion meet in unusual spaces of the city in the name of taste and beauty.
On Monday, May 18, the artisanal herbal liqueur by Carlo Gargiulo and Angela Caliendo will mark the closing of the dinner by Michelin-starred chef Peppe Guida of the Antica Osteria Nonna Rosa in Vico Equense, at the Industrial Artistic Museum of Naples, on the Pizzofalcone hill in Piazzetta Demetrio Salazar.
Preceded by an aperitif in the entrance courtyard and in the majolica-tiled loggia, the evening, entitled Convivio del Tempo , will include a visit to the Museum and a seated dinner held in the charming rooms that once housed the convent's refectory. Guests will sit at a single imperial table, the scenography of which bears the signature of Neapolitan lifestyler and table designer Sergio Colantuoni, known for his minimalist yet theatrical aesthetic.
At the heart of this event is Peppe Guida's cuisine, a true embrace of pasta, seafood, and gardening, rooted in family memories and the concept of recovery, enhancing the flavors of Campania's extraordinary raw materials in their essentiality. Among the dishes on offer, paired with wines from the Consorzio Tutela Vini Vesuvio, is a cult first course by the chef, "Spaghettino all'acqua di limone," a masterpiece of balanced acidity and savory flavors.
To conclude, Francesco Guida's Santa Rosa decomposed, a contemporary interpretation of the dessert created in 1600 by a nun from the Santa Rosa monastery in Conca dei Marini, from which it takes its name, and which has now entered into history, and the chef's treat, Nonna Rosa's zeppoline, served with Amaro Don Carlo , a handcrafted liqueur made from walnut husk (60%) and a mix of selected herbs and spices which has become the true flagship of the historic Gargiulo Coloniali business in Eboli .
Born in 1994 thanks to the intuition and passion of Angela Caliendo, Amaro Don Carlo, black in colour , with an intense aroma of walnuts and spices and an aromatic flavour , is an elegant and refined after-dinner and meditation liqueur that also shows great versatility for use in mixology and in the preparation of fine dining dishes to which it gives refined aromatic hints and depth of flavour.
This will therefore be an important opportunity for Amaro Don Carlo to showcase its distinctive characteristics, authenticity, craftsmanship and territory in a prestigious context, which make it so highly appreciated by consumers and the national and international press (Corriere della Sera has included it among the eight labels not to be missed on the occasion of World Amaro Day 2025).
Wine&Thecity's blend of design and taste is one that Amaro Don Carlo fully embraces, as evidenced by the care taken in its vintage-inspired label, the result of the contribution of graphic designer Mario Cavallaro and illustrator Valentina Grilli. The label features pencil drawings on a yellow background with gold accents of three means of transport: the Steam Engine, the Bicycle, and the Hot Air Balloon, symbols of the dimensions that constitute the soul of Amaro Don Carlo: past, present, and future.
Convivio del Tempo , in fact, will celebrate conviviality as an art form and will help tell the story of these places that were first the Convent of Santa Maria La Solitaria, then the Paggeria and Royal Naval School, and today the Liceo Artistico Choreutico Musicale (Palizzi branch of the Polo delle Arti Caselli Palizzi) and will help discover the Museum established at the end of the 19th century by Gaetano Filangieri, Prince of Satriano, which houses around seven thousand works of ancient and modern art including paintings, sculptures, drawings, glass, bronzes, ancient finds and an important collection of ceramics.
