Amaro Don Carlo , an excellent artisanal liqueur made from walnut husks and a mix of selected herbs and spices, created in Eboli by Carlo Gargiulo and Angela Caliendo , continues to reap international success.
Gold at the 2026 WineHunter Spirits Award and a Star at Great Taste 2026 were won in Merano.
Wine, Food, Spirits, and Beer are the sections into which the products subjected to tasting and evaluation by the selection committees created by Helmuth Köcher have been grouped. The aim is to highlight those entities that stand out as an expression of quality and territory, offering a window on the world thanks to a network of 32 WineHunter Ambassadors representing over 50 countries across Asia, Europe, North and South America.
Naturally, Carlo Gargiulo and Angela Caliendo expressed great satisfaction both for the excellent rating with which their Amaro was included in The WineHunter Award Collection 2026 and for the recognition received in Great Taste, an authoritative international competition organized by the Guild of Fine Food that focuses on excellence in the food and beverage sector. This year, particular attention was paid to Italy with the official program sponsored by the Ministry of Enterprise and Made in Italy.
“A bitter with a balsamic impact on the aroma; notes of caramel, warm spices, and a fresh hint of mint are perceptible. The impact on the palate is powerful, bittersweet, and balsamic…” This is an excerpt from the evaluation the Great Taste judges gave to Amaro Don Carlo.
These awards, therefore, continue to confirm Amaro Don Carlo as a Campanian excellence. Founded in 1994 in the historic Gargiulo Coloniali wine shop in Eboli, it has since embarked on an unstoppable journey aimed at exporting the value of the territory beyond national borders.
