The style of consumption highlighted by a sample of 2,400 young people belonging to the Millennials (those born between 1980 and 1995) and Generation Z (those born between 1996 and 2005) is decidedly oriented towards favoring red wine.

The first positive sign comes in sixth place: Muller Thurgau rises in volume by 7.5% and in value by 6.5%. Vermentino did well: 10.1 minutes of bottles sold (6.4%) for 69.3 minutes (9.9%).

However, the export of Italian wines holds despite the war, the increases in the prices of raw materials (glass), transport and energy. The Düsseldorf event - from Sunday 19 to Tuesday 21 March - sees Italy as the absolute leader this year with about 1750 exhibitors distributed in 3 pavilions. Thirteen of those of the fair that will welcome more than 6000 exhibitors from over 60 countries representing 400 terroirs. 150,000 visitors are expected, professional operators arriving from all over the world.

Numbers eagerly awaited especially by the over 4 thousand exhibiting wineries.

It is Veneto that leads the regional ranking of wine exports in 2022: over 2.8 billion euros in turnover abroad and a performance over the 12 months above the Italian average of 13.4%. On the podium, in second and third place, Piedmont confirms growth with 4.6%, at 1.28 billion and Tuscany, in line with the national results, 10.4% and 1.25 billion euros. Then follow the three regions, responsible overall for 68.2% of Made in Italy wine exports: Trentino Alto-Adige (-1.1% between January and December 2022) and Emilia-Romagna (8.9%) . Italian wine, one of the most virtuous Made in Italy sectors in the trade balance, closed with a profit of over 7.3 billion euros.

The Association of rural landscapes of historical interest was born in Arezzo, which also includes the Hills of Conegliano Valdobbiadene landscape of Prosecco Superiore. «I am proud that our territory, that of Conegliano Valdobbiadene, is part of the association», says the president of the Consortium for the protection of DOCG, Elvira Bortolomiol.
