The Marcato family tells its story and presents the selection of Talestri wines: Classic Method, Ripasso and Amarone. Liquid essences of a territory, ideal ambassadors to tell ideas, projects and life stories of a family that creates bottles capable of transmitting emotions.

Talestri, the new creature of Francesco Marcato, presents itself with an elegant and modern brand that sees the light after a long journey of knowledge and interpretation of the eastern territories of Valpolicella: a project that looks to the future but brings with it all the heritage of sensitivity , competence and tradition of a great interpreter.

The inspiration was born in 2008 , when the Marcato family, moved by the desire to create a project capable of expressing competence, professionalism and passion, decided to acquire about 10 hectares of vineyards in the Veronese area, in Valpolicella , on the hills just below the town of San Briccio . This is how the story of Talestri originates, a modern company, declined in the feminine form by the sisters, Anna , Lisa and Francesca Marcato but driven by the strength of the experience of father Francesco, who has always been dedicated to production in the Marcato family's winery, famous for the production of spectacular Durello Classic Method sparkling wines. After years dedicated to the care and development of the vineyard, in 2015 the project of building the winemaking cellar was realized, right in the heart of the one-piece estate and the project of making high quality wines, capable of representing the territory, modern for its enological conception but with deep roots in the winemaking tradition. Two souls that interact perfectly in the wines of the selection, presented in an exclusive tasting aimed at the press and sector employees.

"The time has finally come to crown our work with the presentation of our wines. We have chosen the name Talestri , that of the queen of the Amazons, because we are three sisters united by courage, passion and determination, values on which our project is based. but also precious qualities that will have to guide us in interpreting the future.

We were born and raised in the cellar where our father Francesco, together with his brothers, produced Soave and Durello. This is how, from an early age, we became passionate about viticulture and enology.

Our family past has left an indelible trace in our hearts to which we continue to pay tribute, without forgetting that today we find ourselves in a different territorial context, in Valpolicella, and it is right to interpret wines capable of making the land that hosts our vineyards speak " said Francesca Marcato , a young entrepreneur qualified for years of study in agronomy, largely dedicated to business management.

"I was born in the cellar and my life has always been dedicated to this activity - added Francesco Marcato - and I bring with me 30 years of experience in the world of wine and sparkling wines. I put all my skills at the service of the new family project. and I have given myself the mission of orienting my daughters towards the future : day after day we work and plan together, we decide in total harmony but my most beautiful dream is to transmit the sensitivity that is necessary to cultivate vines in harmony with the nature and transforming grapes into wines capable of giving emotions. The first year we vinified in this territory, we understood that the territory and the vineyards had all the characteristics needed to create sparkling wines of great caliber as well as the great traditional wines of Valpolicella.

The territory and its wines

The estate, 160 meters above sea level , extends around the hill of San Briccio , an ancient underwater volcano. "Valpolicella is an offshoot of the Lessini Mountains and is characterized by limestone soils but the Talestri estate has something more in fact the calcareous soils of sedimentary origin, typical of Valpolicella, are enhanced by a substrate and basaltic outcrops , rare in the Valpolicella but characteristic of the eastern area of the province of Verona. The exposure of the vineyards to the south allows to take advantage of the solar radiation and the heat of the day is mitigated by the constant breeze and the mountain winds that cool the nights. Ideal ingredients to guarantee the perfect ripening of the grapes and obtaining fine and elegant wines, with mineral notes and pleasant sapidity "explained Lisa Marcato, family oenologist.

Today, the Talestri selection includes two typical Valpolicella wines: Amarone "Passione" and Valpolicella Ripasso Superiore "Gentilezza" perfectly paired with the classic Extra Brut Method (24 months on the lees) "Istinto", which pays homage to the family DNA with a fresh and refined sparkling wine that wears a wonderful white dress but does not want to hide the red heart of the grapes of origin: Corvina, Rondinella and Molinara (following wine cards).

"The selection of Talestri was born from an important work in the vineyard and from the awareness of the differences that characterize the three main vines of Valpolicella: Corvina, Corvinone and Rondinella. Grapes that live in the same territory but seem to belong to different worlds and require preparation, timing, different treatments and drying, carried out with different techniques and devices. We have chosen to carry out more controlled but also longer drying times to allow the grapes time to transform and complete their path. For example, respecting what the profile should be. of a true Amarone, we do not want to obtain high alcohol content so we work in the countryside with very specific farming methods and we use temperature control systems during the drying and vinification phase to enhance the notes of the fruit "said the enologist Enrico Nicolis.

The graphics

Like all winning projects, Talestri too has placed heart and attention on the processes necessary to identify a brand image capable of involving the consumer and expressing corporate values.

"Working on the concept of emotion, we created the entire graphic project of Talestri, from the company logo to the wine labels. We were inspired by the intuitions and studies of the architect John O. Simonds, the first to represent emotions with graphic strokes. and then we brought to the label the emotion that each wine transmits: Amarone celebrates Passion, Ripasso tells Kindness with two hands that come together, those of the young Valpolicella and the expert Amarone. The Classic Method is dedicated to the Instinct, to the creative instinct of those who create a new wine project but also of those who are open to new ideas "explained Manuel Mingardo of the Diamente studio , curator of the graphic project.

Since 2020 the company and the wines have obtained the SQNPI Certification (National Quality System of Integrated Production) which certifies the company's commitment to sustainability and pays tribute to the splendid landscape and naturalistic context in which it is inserted.
