A union of intents between all the consortia for the protection of the island and other organizations in the sector, coordinated by the Agriculture Department of the Sicilian Region and the Regional Institute of Wine and Oil of Sicily, to shape the guidelines that will guide the development of wine sector of the island.

These will be the coordinates that will guide the creation of the new Regional Wine Plan, a project strongly desired by the councilor Luca Sammartino and ready to take off, with the front line commitment of the Consortium for the Protection of Doc Sicily Wines.

The world of Sicilian wine has all the tools to become increasingly successful, even on an international level . – says Antonio Rallo, President of the Consortium – We are honored and happy to take part in this project, as ambitious as it is virtuous, for the creation of a model that acts as a compass for the sustainable development of the sector, operating in a tangible way on enhancing the identity of Sicilian wines and the territory in which they are born. A territory to be discovered, characterized by a precious bond between its natural, cultural and historical wonders and its excellent winemaking "

The Consorzio Tutela Vini Doc Sicilia will work on the plan with the aim of further enhancing Sicilian production, made up of increasingly central and important native vines such as Nero D'Avola and Grillo. Grapes that give life to wines of the highest quality and which, thanks also to the new Wine Plan, will be able to penetrate more and more into the market.

The Consorzio di Tutela Vini DOC Sicilia (siciliadoc.wine) came to life in 2012, with the aim of promoting DOC Sicilia wines, with actions aimed at increasing the visibility of a symbol of Made in Italy, as well as protecting the product with supervisory actions in defense of consumers and producers.

Almost 8,000 winegrowers and about 500 bottlers are promoters of the Denomination of Controlled Origin, a recognition useful for representing them but also for enhancing and safeguarding the island's wine production. Sicily is the largest organic wine area in Italy: it represents 30% of the national surface and with its over 42 thousand hectares it also holds the record among the regions that practice sustainable viticulture, subject to organic or integrated production regulations.
