The average producer price of grapes for the entire Veneto region was 0.58 euros / kg, in line with the Veronese one (0.57 euros / kg), while in Padua the price stopped at 0.46 euros. / kg. Treviso continues to hold the regional leadership in terms of average grape prices with a purchase value of 0.71 euro / kg. The DOC and DOCG grapes have mostly maintained the variations with a positive sign, while for the IGT ones the minus sign prevailed.
On the other hand, worrying signals are coming from the wine market, whose global context is "flooded" by the COVID-19 pandemic. The crisis that started from the first lockdown has in fact slowed down domestic sales but also international ones. Consequently, in the cellars there are considerable quantities of unsold product of 2019 in stock, which "fortunately" does not have to deal with the wines of the 2020 harvest, as mentioned not excessively abundant.
Even the exponential growth of Veneto (and Italian) wine exports , to which we have been accustomed for many years, is paying the consequences of this prolonged period of severe restrictions. Consider that in the first six months of this year there was, after a long time, a drop of -3.6% in sales abroad. The new DPCM "Christmas" will certainly not help to rectify the situation.
