The initiative, introduced in 2022 and now in its third year, took place on Saturday 4 May in the context of our Coste di Maser forest , located within the MAB UNESCO Reserve of the Asolo hills, which includes an area of over three hectares certified FSC®-C181022 and constitutes a precious habitat for various animal and plant species, including centuries-old chestnut trees, wild cherry trees, ash trees and numerous varieties of honey plants.
“Environmental, social and economic sustainability is a fundamental pillar of our business vision – declared Sara Cecchetto , the company's sustainability manager -. Through Coste's project we want to communicate how being responsible must not be limited only to one's own company environment but must extend to the surrounding area, protecting the environment and the people who live in it. We wish to transmit our values to the community, actively involving future generations on the importance of biodiversity."
During the day, the students participated in a beekeeping lesson organized in collaboration with the Treviso committee of the Regional Beekeepers Association of Veneto. Led by Giuseppe Morosin , expert at the L'Alveare del Grappa educational farm, the children had the opportunity to learn the role of bees in their ecosystem and learn about the various phases of honey production. Furthermore, with Alessio Brandolese and Francesca Bella – experts in reforestation and climate strategies from Etifor, a spin-off environmental consultancy company of the University of Padua – the classes created a herbarium with the species of honey plants present in the Coste forest of Maser, learning to recognize and classify them.
At the end of the educational workshops, the Noble Researchers of Taste of Maser organized a reception full of local first fruits.
The event saw the participation of local authorities, including the Mayor of Maser Claudia Benedos : “I thank the Cecchetto agricultural company for the opportunity it offers to the children of our secondary school to get to know and appreciate the forest: it has become for them an appointment that they await with great enthusiasm. I also want to thank the company for the large investment in the recovery and redevelopment of this wooded area which further enhances our territory".
Representing the Pro Loco of Maser , partner of the project, is the president Claudio Crotti .
The initiative fits perfectly into the principles of Benefit Companies , whose legal form we adopted in 2023, confirming our constant commitment to promoting a responsible, sustainable and transparent wine business model. We continue to collaborate with the local community to ensure the protection and valorisation of the Maser forest, thus contributing to the conservation of the environment.
