The dissemination of good practices in favor of the ecosystem and the culture of sustainable development by the SOStain Sicilia Foundation is increasingly recognized and so on 9 November at 6 pm in the Sala Buzzati of the Milan headquarters of the Corriere della Sera, it will be delivered to Alberto Tasca , president of the Foundation, the Buone Notizie Award, promoted by Corriere della Sera and presented by the journalist Luciano Ferraro.
The award is dedicated to the sustainability program for viticulture in Sicily which is increasingly a "team for the environment", with a view to promoting and spreading a culture of sustainability shared by a network of actors with different identities but looking for solutions that simultaneously take into consideration the social, economic and environmental needs of a community.
"I am pleased to receive this award which recognizes the commitment and work carried out by the SOStain Sicily Foundation. - underlines Alberto Tasca, president of the SOStain Foundation - The defense of human interests, it is now evident, coincides with the defense of the rights of Nature and vice versa. Sharing etymologically means "possessing together", which we have interpreted as "guarding together". Since we created the SOStain Sicilia Foundation in 2020, custodian of the SOStain regulations, which to date 40 Sicilian wineries have joined, we have discussed each other on a daily basis on different topics, using the debate no longer as a position statement but as mutual growth. This happens because we have learned to create a system, replacing "I" with "we".
The Sicilian wine sector, promoter of good practices, with a national and international perspective, therefore starts from Sicily: SOStain is the sustainability program for viticulture in Sicily, the first region in Italy for agricultural area dedicated to organic production, promoted precisely by the Consortium of Protection of Sicily DOC wines and Assovini Sicily.
More and more wineries are joining the SOStain Sicily Foundation, sharing the desire to experiment with good practices aimed at respecting the ecosystem, enhancing biodiversity and creating a virtuous production model: there are 40 companies associated with SOStain, of which 24 are already certified , for a total of 5,703 hectares of certified vineyards and 21,342,093 bottles also certified, which share the desire to experiment, during their production process, good practices aimed at protecting and enhancing biodiversity and the communities in which they operate.
