This strategic investment confirms the winery's commitment to energy transition, environmental protection, and the effective valorization of the Oltrepò Pavese region.
The system, built by Ecotechno in collaboration with Aeffe, thanks to the support of the Parco Agrisolare call for proposals, has a total power output of 425 kWp and is composed of approximately 750 photovoltaic panels . Estimated production is approximately 470,000 kWh per year, avoiding the emission of approximately 235 tons of CO₂ into the atmosphere each year and covering a significant portion of the winery's energy needs.
This project is part of a broader commitment that has seen Torrevilla commit for years to adopting sustainable practices throughout its production chain. This commitment reached a key milestone with the achievement of SQNPI (National Quality System for Integrated Production) certification, making Torrevilla the first winery in the Oltrepò Pavese region to achieve this important recognition.
" For us at Torrevilla, " says Torrevilla President Massimo Barbieri , " this project represents much more than the construction of a photovoltaic system. It is a fundamental step in a green journey that our cooperative has decided to undertake with conviction, looking to the future with responsibility and awareness. We have always worked to enhance the local area and create value for our members, the winemakers, and the surrounding community. Today, this also means making concrete choices to reduce our environmental impact and contribute to a more sustainable production model. The new system was born from this very vision and allows us to transform sustainability into something concrete, measurable, and everyday ."
The project also included the installation of an electric vehicle charging station and stands out for its use of highly efficient and reliable technologies, including SunPower photovoltaic modules and latest-generation inverters. A major redevelopment project for the company's facilities was also completed.
A particularly significant aspect of the initiative is the decision to rely—to Torrevilla's particular satisfaction—on local partners for the design and construction of the project. This decision consolidates long-standing collaborations and contributes to generating positive economic and employment benefits for the local community.
" We believe that today's agricultural and winemaking company," Barbieri continues, "must question its role in the future of the region. We have chosen to do so by investing in clean energy and a development model that combines competitiveness, respect for the environment, and care for people. Furthermore, excess energy produced is fed into the electricity grid and made available to the community: a concrete example of how a corporate investment can generate shared benefits for the entire region ."
With this initiative, Torrevilla confirms its commitment to pursuing innovation and social responsibility, focusing on sustainability as a driver of growth for the cooperative, its winemakers, and the entire agricultural landscape of the Oltrepò Pavese region.
TORREVILLA WINERY
Cantina Torrevilla is a historic cooperative winery located in the hills of the Oltrepò Pavese, in the town of Torrazza Coste. Viticulture has been practiced in this area since the times of the Roman Empire, a blend of history and tradition that continues to resonate with the company and its ongoing work with the land and its wines. Today, Torrevilla operates 600 hectares of vineyards spread across nine municipalities in the Oltrepò Pavese area, a land whose hills straddle two regions: Lombardy and Piedmont. From the vineyards located in Codevilla, Torrazza Coste, Retorbido, Montebello della Battaglia, Borgo Priolo, Montesegale, Rocca Susella, Godiasco Salice Terme, and Mornico Losana, approximately 60,000 quintals of grapes are annually produced, transforming them into over 2.5 million bottles, expressing the most authentic Oltrepò Pavese.
