On Saturday 13 July the children of the association will participate in the harvest of ancient Mentana wheat using agricultural tools from the early twentieth century.

The project begins in 2022 when the company, having one hectare of land adjacent to the cellar, prefers the cultivation and rediscovery of an ancient cereal to the planting of a new vineyard. With the desire to diversify and enhance local biodiversity, the choice for sowing fell on the Mentana variety , a grain that fell into disuse during the world conflicts and is increasingly cultivated today. Instead, to honor and keep alive the historical memory of local agricultural traditions, the AIPD boys will use agricultural vehicles from the early twentieth century during the harvesting and threshing phases, thanks to the group of “I Frascassati” from Cimetta (TV).

“With this initiative – explains Sara Cecchetto , the company's sustainability manager – we have integrated the recovery of an ancient grain into a social inclusion project. The AIPD kids and their families, who confirmed their participation in our solidarity threshing this year too, will once again put themselves to the test, demonstrating their commitment, their skills and their strength of mind. We can count on the help of really smart people."

From the wheat harvest, packages of flour and pasta will be created which the children with Down syndrome will personalize with their unique and original decorations. The products will then be put on sale and the proceeds will be used to finance the activities carried out by the association.

Solidarity threshing is part of the virtuous circle of environmental and social initiatives proposed by Cecchetto - among these beekeeping among the vineyards, the inclusive harvest of Raboso del Piave and the recovery and planting of the Coste di Maser forest, certified according to the principles by FSC® - C181022 –, fundamental activities for the balance between man and nature which during the year include training days with associations, schools and local communities.

The event on Saturday 13 July will also see the participation of authoritative guests: Marina Marchetto Aliprandi , Member of the Chamber of Deputies of the Italian Republic; Federico Caner , Councilor for Tourism and Agriculture of the Veneto Region; Manuela De Bernardin Stadoan , Police Commissioner of Treviso; Vincenzo Zonno , Director of the Conegliano Police Station and Deputy Police Commissioner; Alessandro Brait , Mayor of the Municipality of Vazzola.
