After obtaining European recognition from CSQA, at the end of 2024 it reached a new milestone: inclusion among the standards recognized by Equalitas for the evaluation of the soil biodiversity indicator .
Equalitas is the reference Standard for sustainability in the wine sector. Its protocol is based on three fundamental pillars – environmental, economic and social – and the recognition of Diversity Ark as a valid certification for the biodiversity requirement represents a significant added value for companies.
Thanks to this synergy , companies that obtain the Diversity Ark certification will see the achievement of the requirement relating to soil biodiversity automatically recognized by Equalitas . Similarly, companies that, after having certified the environmental part with Diversity Ark, wish to approach the Equalitas path, will be able to integrate the certification of economic and social sustainability.
“Being recognized by Equalitas as a standard for biodiversity is an extraordinary achievement for us and a responsibility that we embrace with enthusiasm. This milestone allows us to guide and support wineries towards a greener, more ethical and competitive future. We firmly believe that sustainability is not just a choice, but the only possible path to guarantee healthy agriculture , a transparent supply chain and wines that tell a story of respect for the planet and for people.” – says Luigi Vignaduzzo, partner and director of Diversity Ark.
Diversity Ark's commitment also extends to the training field: on January 13, 2025, the first meeting of the year was held, dedicated to the preparation of new agronomists who will contribute to the sustainable certification process. The event, which brought together professionals from different Italian regions - including Sicily, Emilia-Romagna, Veneto and Tuscany - represented a fundamental step to strengthen the Diversity Ark network and spread the sustainability model throughout the territory. During the day, key topics such as biodiversity, soil fertility and the reduction of chemical impact in agriculture were explored.
With this recognition and the constant investment in training, Diversity Ark strengthens its role as a reference in sustainability certification, contributing to a more aware and responsible future for the wine sector.
