Mayor’s Selection 2015: the best wines

The XIV edition of Mayor’s Selection, the international wine competition sponsored by the Cities of Wine and Recevin awarded as many as 27 Grand Gold Medals and 143 Gold Medals.


How does the Mayor’s Selection Work?

The Mayor’s Selection provides for the joint participation of the wineries and territories of the Cities of Wine. The competition also includes a minimum and maximum limit from one thousand to 50 thousand bottles, with a focus on indigenous grapes, dessert wines, matured in clay wines and quality products of cooperative wineries. «The quality recognized by the tasting committees goes beyond the obtained results - the director of the Cities of Wine, Paolo Benvenuti, comments - and demonstrates the ability of producers to know how to produce well, despite difficult years, due to the vagaries of the weather and climate change. In this sense native vines seem to show their best potential in the vineyard and in the winery. The great performance of these wines is a business card of the territories from the point fo view of tourism and local development. A role that should not be distorted, but accompanied with intelligence in the years to come, thanks to the constant commitment of the associations of European wine that represent an excellence to bear more and more into account».
