The Go Wine tasting event celebrates the native vines of Piedmont as told by the producers. Biodiversity and wine culture at the centre.

A unique event of its kind and of great interest in being able to represent all together, over 40 different Piedmontese vines , represented by the winemakers. In the context of the historic center of Alba, in Piazza del Duomo.

An event in the name of biodiversity and wine culture: it allows the public of wine enthusiasts to appreciate the richness of the Piedmontese vineyard, among the most important in Italy: the many vines and wines represented all together promote different corners of the region, combining varieties of great diffusion (like Nebbiolo, for example) to rare varieties, object of recovery over the last few years (like Baratuciat, Bian Ver or Uvalino to name a few).

A tribute to Piedmont, a region which, in the Italian panorama, is perhaps among those with the most important number of native vines cultivated and represented, with excellent results.

The panorama of wines to be tasted will therefore be important: even more labels of many vines will be presented for tasting. The rarest vines, often linked to the research and valorisation work of one or two wineries, will be brought together in a special wine shop.

As in every edition, the event will be enriched with some collateral events. In-depth guided tastings, an important guest grape variety and then a separate meeting with the viticulture of the so-called "New World", represented by South Africa with a selection of wines waiting to be discovered!

To add some references, here is (in strict alphabetical order) a first list of the grape varieties protagonists of this special Go Wine event:

Albarossa, Arneis, Avanà, Baratuciat, Barbera, Becuet, Bian Ver, Bonarda, Bussanello, Cari, Caricalasino, Cortese, Croatina, Dolcetto, Erbaluce, Favorita, Freisa, Furmentin, Gamba di pernice, Grignolino, Malvasia, Malvasia di Schierano, Malvasia Moscata, Montanera, Moscato, Nascetta, Nebbiolo, Nebbiolo di Dronero, Neretto di San Giorgio, Nibiò, Pelaverga, Pelaverga Piccolo, Quagliano, Rossese bianco, Ruchè, Timorasso, Uva Rare, Uvalino, Vespolina.

An extraordinary opportunity to get to know new and different products, to savor the charm of the typical products that characterize Piedmontese viticulture and which will converge, for one day, in the historic center of Alba.

“The event – say the Go Wine association – reaches its sixth edition; is part of the initiatives that Go Wine has been carrying out for many years in Italy in favor of native vines: it was born in Piedmont to talk about the particular richness of the region's vineyard and reinforces a theme dear to the association. In fact, every year Go Wine promotes a tour dedicated to native wines in six large Italian cities and promotes local wines as a tool to strengthen wine tourism in Italy; the Alba event reinforces this commitment of the association always in the name of general occasions that promote wine culture and knowledge".

As in every edition, the Go Wine association promotes an initiative in favor of research in the wine sector.

The city of Alba is home to the event and the reference is not accidental; for the role that Alba has in the world of wine, for the institutions present such as the Enological School and the University, as a reference for a vast territory of excellent wines.
The Festival of Native Wines of Piedmont takes place under the patronage of the City of Alba and with the support of the Cassa di Risparmio di Cuneo Foundation.
