Greater China 20% despite the crisis: thanks to an evolved "eastern middle class".

In particular, despite the setback in the last 12 months, I see on the horizon in the next 18 months a recovery of our great quality red wines, which will once again be purchased by enthusiasts and foreign wine lovers, starting from the USA which has historically been the market more important for this type of bottle. In fact, in view of the presidential elections in November, the American economy continues to do well and even the FED is preparing to cut rates because US inflation is under control. Furthermore, in Asia, where in 2023 we EFIs recorded an impetuous 20% growth in exports, all of the so-called "Greater China" also continues to purchase our quality Italian wines, starting from Amarone, Brunello and Barolo (for reds) and from Lugana, Trebbiano and Pinot Grigio/Bianco (for whites). In China in particular, an advanced middle class has consolidated, which now buys our wines to consume them and not just to give them as gifts as happened in the past. These new oriental consumers appreciate everything Made in Italy, starting from our tricolor bottles. Our sparkling wines are essentially holding up all over the world, with Prosecco constantly growing especially in France (substitution effect with Champagne) although no longer in "double digits" as in the years of the Pandemic>>, is the comment at Vinitaly by Edoardo Freddi International , the first Italian export management company in the wine sector , which in 2023 recorded over 86 million euros in managed turnover and 35 million bottles marketed .
< fine red wines will continue to make the history of Italian winemaking. But to represent a unique experience for connoisseurs and enthusiasts, our wineries will have to listen more and more to young consumers, without distorting their history and their terroirs. The result will be wines that are perhaps less "muscular" than in the past but decidedly more attentive to environmental and social sustainability, because GenZ (who will be the consumers of the future) are very attentive to these aspects. After a light/dark 2023, the second half of 2024 will therefore be a transition for the export of Italian wines, with great opportunities to be seized for all those who will be able to read the "weak signals" coming from the markets earlier and better. We at Edoardo Freddi International are discussing all these issues with all of our more than 50 partner wineries, starting with Lady Amarone Marilisa Allegrini , an icon in the world of wine and renowned producer of quality wines>>, concluded the exporter Edoardo Freddi.
