The third level of SUMAV will train future ONAV Master Tasters with a course full of ideas and insights in autumn 2023.

The top of the organization's training is the third level of SUMAV, Scuola Universitaria Master Tasters of Wine , a real university course, which will be held in Asti at the Uni-Astiss Polo Universitario Asti Advanced Studies "Rita Levi Montalcini" from 21 October to 17 December 2023, which aims to train professionals.

How can you tell if something adheres to personal taste? To appreciate in a conscious, active and profound way , it is useful to know . Tasting is metaphorically similar to the concept of vocal intonation: both are linked to a background knowledge that provides the necessary tools to understand if a note adheres to the score, or if a wine is organoleptically valuable . Consequently, a taster is able to observe a wine in all its details in an expert, competent and accurate way and to fully enjoy it.

«ONAV offers a very high-level tasting course, with in-depth university lessons on viticultural and oenological topics - says Vincenzo Gerbi, President of the Scientific Committee - which will train competent experts able to understand and communicate organoleptic values in a precise and scientific way of the wines in the light of the knowledge gained during the lessons.»

SUMAV is a professional tasting course for sector operators, oenologists, sommeliers and expert tasters which completes an already wide offer. The course aims to provide very in-depth knowledge in the wine field, to define the characteristics of wines due to the grape variety, the territory, the new climatic conditions, the winemaking in order to be able to evaluate their quality and promote them in the best possible way.
