The best restaurants in Firenze.
Walking through the streets of Florence in a beautiful spring evening, it may happen to meet Belcore, a “Don Giovanni” of persuasive ways and fine eloquence.
Certainly Belcore is not in shortage of topics, who of good living and pleasure knows every secret: after all, to caress taste is almost his job, and he has made of it a matter of honor, or perhaps of love!
That cockscomb of Belcore knows how to make people love him: with a piece of candy he can blaze the heart of every woman, and with a glass of wine he wins the sympathy of every man. Because with him it is easy to indulge in luxury and easy laughters, in the inebriation of wine and in the delight of the palate.
And since the pleasure of food knows no rest days, Belcore has found a place to stay, to wait for anyone who wants to spend a moment of pleasure: he stays in the shade of a tree, so big and beautiful to give the name of the street where it has taken root.
It may be told as that of the character whose name it bears, the history of the Belcore Restaurant: a place to be seduced by the delicious cuisine or by the taste of a fine wine, in a relaxed atmosphere full of courtesy and welcome.
Abdel is the “Amphitryon” in this island hidden in the heart of the most lively Florence. And he will take you by the hand on a journey into the taste of the creative cuisine of Staff Belcore, all made with the freshest ingredients and of top quality, such as Tagliata of fresh tuna crusted with black pepper on braised shallots and carrot soup.
To accompany these dishes, you should let Abdel suggest you one of the many fine wines available in the cellar of Belcore: wines of the highest standard at a very low price. An excellent occasion to enjoy the vintages and harvests decanted by sommeliers from all over the world, without spending a fortune.
To frame a wonderful evening of pleasure, finally, there is a dessert card of quality and fine sweets. Perhaps to accompany with a raisin wine or with long–aging spirits that make the last caress to the palate.
His Staff and Abdel offer themed or of exotic flavors dinners, to be able to offer their customers the fruit of many years of experience in the best restaurants in the world.
After dinner, the beautiful rooms of Belcore, adorned by the paintings of the young artists that they host, turn into a real living room. A few fast dishes for a snack after hours, after the cinema or the theater, and the chance to taste a glass of wine, or a piece of cake to pair with a digestive.
To live up to the late evening the magic of a place that has all the mischievous charm of the seducer whose name it bears: Belcore, a master of love.
A few minutes from Viale Europa, in Rimaggio locality, the famous Trattoria Donnini is located, a place that recalls memories. In the past, it was a resting place for travellers who had to deal with the “Consuma”.
The architectural structure is reminiscent of the Tuscan country houses, with that air of serenity and harmony that can be found also inside. One of the rooms, in effect, offers the opportunity to dine in front of a large fireplace that immediately creates an atmosphere of relaxation and makes you feel really at home. The family management of Carla, Francesco and Gian Marco, will serve you Tuscan and fish dishes with great care and courtesy. The attention for raw materials is high, as well as the level of homemade bread, pasta and desserts. We recommend you to start with the Donnini appetizer, with mixed meats and croutons, and the legendary “antinfluenzale” (“anti–flu”): tripe carpaccio, onion and piattellini beans, a recipe that has been handed down for over a century, and the salt cod mousse on soft chickpeas crouton.
To follow, first courses, such as risotto with cream of saffron in pistils, tagliatelle made of chestnut flour with duck and mushrooms ragout, tortelli stuffed with guinea fowl seasoned with truffles. Of high level are also frieds made as it was used in the past, with a net.
The Donnini Great Fried is made with chicken, rabbit, brain and seasonal vegetables. Do not miss the chicken tagliata with aromas of wood on a bed of salad greens, and a Fiorentina steak for true connoisseurs. Among the fish dishes, worth to mention are the Livorno cod fish and the fried of calamari and shrimps. Delicious desserts, such as apple pie made as it was used in the past, and a warm cake with vanilla and local apricot jam, are very suitable also for ceremonies and weddings. Valentine’s dinner in full intimacy.
Please note that the menu changes frequently and that every day dishes off the menu are offered, depending on the imagination of the chef. Open all year round, we provide a smoking room.
As the name implies, it belongs to an owner who sells exclusively his products, those of the Castle of Verrazzano in Greve. The pleasantness of the place, located in a side street of Via Calzaioli, makes of it a stop to recommend, with a choice of salami, cheese and other gastronomy appetizers.
It is located in the street that connects the train station to the San Lorenzo market. Absolutely untypical, it can not be considered a true wine bar, better an old tavern of the past, with people who find themselves at different times of the day to have a chat with a glass of wine in their hand. You can have a glass with a wide choice of labels, but you can not eat!
Its origins date back to the Middle Ages, and make of it one of the oldest accommodation facilities in Europe: starting from the year 1000, the presence of a great market situated where today you find the market square is reported, and in the premises of the Hotel and Restaurant there was a inn already in the fourteenth century, whose entrance – the same as today – was located between the other two oldest institutions of the place: the hospital and the church.
Today, the same hospitality made of love for the culinary tradition and attention to a modern and comfortable accommodation is offered to visitors from all over the world, which bring to their places of origin the memory of an unrepeatable experience of the senses.
