News on Italian wine and oenology

Italian wineries

  • Cantina Valpolicella Negrar : Francesca Marastoni has been appointed new sales manager, with both an in-house background and solid international experience.
  • Salvaterra Winery : Silvia Minoccheri is the new sales and marketing manager. With a twenty-year career, she will lead the international growth of the Verona-based winery, part of the Veraison Group.
  • Pasqua Vini : Rizzoli has published the book " Ode to the Future – Five Wines. Five Artists ," celebrating the company's 100th anniversary through a dialogue between art and wine.
  • Borgo Rocca Sveva Winery : hosts the Veronese journalists' party organized by Assostampa Verona.

Italian wine

  • The wine market is a heated debate between those who denounce a deep crisis (declining exports, high inventories, and the possibility of pruning) and those who downplay their concerns. At the center: yields, authorizations, the supply chain, and production value.
  • Piacenza : five wines win AIS gold medals in the "Emilia Romagna to drink and eat" guide.
  • Emilia Romagna : 14 labels have been awarded the “Three Corkscrews” award in the Untold 2026 guide, confirming the region as an increasingly dynamic region.
  • Slow Wine 2026 : The guide's 153 Best Buys, a symbol of quality and affordable prices. Among them, three special awards for Sardinia.
  • Vinodabere Guide 2026 : Italian Pinot Noir takes center stage, with 250 wines tasted, 145 reviewed, and 54 Standing Ovations. Piedmont, Lombardy, and Trentino are among the top regions.

Italian enology

  • Etna : a new generation of young winemakers is redefining the identity of Sicilian wine, experimenting with new interpretations of terroir on the volcano.
  • Treviso : Controversy over gangmastering: no company has joined the legality list promoted by the Prefecture.
  • Asti : The School for Master Wine Tasters (Sumav) returns, with 60 hours of theory, practice, and scientific research on wine.

International

  • Global exports : Trump's trade war and US tariffs are also hitting Italian wine (-0.5% in June). France and New Zealand are the only ones to show slight growth.
  • Trentino : positive harvests for apples and berries, but wine is impacted by tariffs, the devaluation of the dollar, and declining consumption.

Wine events

  • Castello San Marco (CT) : “Families Beyond: A Beacon for All” returns on September 29th, a solidarity dinner featuring top chefs.
  • Latteria Perenzin (Conegliano-Valdobbiadene) : the 2025 edition of Caseifici Aperti will take place from 26 to 28 September, with tastings and workshops led by cheese refiner Andrea Magi.
  • Roero : success for Bollicine del Roero , with 22 wineries and great public participation.
  • Carema (TO) : from 21 to 28 September the 73rd Grape and Wine Festival , a celebration of historic viticulture and rural landscapes.
