POST COVID, THE LOOK FOR QUALITY. THAT AGRI-FOOD VENETIAN DOES

  • 13/10/2021

There are 89 Venetian foods and wines recognized by the European Union, and will be on display on Sunday 24 October (10-18) in the 7th "Festiva delle Dop" of the Region and Veneto Agriculture in the pavilions of the Godega S.Urbano Fair ( TV). Tastings, music, entertainment and "rostidora".

The pandemic emergency has pushed purchases for the table towards local and certified products. This is what emerged from the survey carried out by EngageMinds Hub, the Research Center of the Catholic University in Cremona, also taken up by Sky TG24. Over half of the interviewees, about 4000, bought food at "Km 0" and with territorial certifications. It is estimated that 70% of people often or always buy Dop, Igp or Stg products , that is, European certified quality.

A confirmation of the strength of this "basket", the Italian one is the richest among European countries, a real cornucopia full of quality , history, tradition, beauty, goodness and economic strength, including tourism. It is so for every region of the Belpaese, especially for the Veneto which contends with Emilia Romagna for the national primacy.

In fact, from meat products to fruit and vegetables, from cheeses to oils, from products of animal origin to wines, there are 89 Veneto foods and wines recognized by the European Union with the certification of Designation of Origin .

More in detail, these are 18 PDO (Protected Designations of Origin), 18 PGI (Protected Geographical Indications), 29 DOC wines (Controlled Designations of Origin), 14 DOCG wines (Controlled and Guaranteed Designations of Origin) and 10 IGT wines (Indications Typical Geographic). In this extraordinary basket, which makes Veneto the first Region in Italy for the number of products with the European quality label, 5 TSG products (Guaranteed Traditional Specialties) and 3 IG (Geographical Indication) spirits must be added.

These are acronyms and logos that can sometimes also generate a bit of confusion among consumers, which have a single common denominator: the recognition at European level of the very high quality of these agricultural products which overall, according to recent estimates by the Ismea-Qualivita Observatory, are worth over 3.9 billion euros , divided between wine ( 88.7% ) and agri-food ( 11.3% ).

All this will be on display next Sunday 24 October from 10:00 to 18:00, in the halls of GodegaFiere (Godega San'Urbano, TV) with the 7th edition of the Festival delle DOP del Veneto, the festival dedicated to excellence regional agri-food, promoted by the Region, Veneto Agriculture and the local municipal administration. A unique event for the public and fans of the highest quality products of our agriculture .

Not just food: during the day, which will be held in full compliance with the anticovid regulations (admission is free but the green pass is required), tastings are obviously provided (cheeses, wines, honey, sopressa, ham, etc.) but also interesting and curious moments of entertainment with music and cabaret that will involve the audience. Finally, outside the exhibition halls, a large rostidora will be in operation for the preparation of the main product of the month of October: the IGP Marroni of Combai and Monfenera and the Dop of San Zeno di Montagna (VR).
