On 18 September 2023 " IN VINO VERITAS " will be held at Palazzo Sommaruga in Milan , a conference that aims to put technical aspects, sensory perception and communication of wine in relation to the body, health and balance. The conference was created by the will of the National Organization of Wine Tasters and the Order of Doctors of Milan . It will be a morning of dissemination interventions by representatives of the ONAV and the Order of Doctors on the hot topics to allow the public to have a complete picture in order to build their own opinion .
« Wine and health have been topics of debate for years and the intent of this conference is to clarify things by correlating them on the basis of verifiable evidence. – Says Vito Intini , President of ONAV. – A scientific panel, each with its own specialization, will talk about the power of knowing the risks and benefits of wine ».
« We are pleased, as the Order of Doctors of Milan, to be able to bring our scientific contribution to a topic so much debated in the news lately » says Dr. Alberto Martelli , primary pediatrician. « In fact, wine and the consumption of ethanol in general have recently catalysed the attention of health professionals regarding the proposed hypothesis of placing alerts on the labels of alcoholic beverages, including wine, as for cigarette packets. This provision, for the moment only imagined, requires a scientific study on the real effects of ethanol consumption also with regard to the quantities consumed and the characteristics of the patients who use it anomalously. Four key aspects will be treated and discussed: communication strategies for adolescents and the effects of ethanol on the cardiovascular system, liver and blood. In a current panorama of uncertainties and doubts, our task, as the title "IN VINO VERITAS" says, will be to investigate and clarify, in the light of the most recent scientific literature, the real aspects, favorable or not, of the effect of ethanol on our health ».
