With a few days later than the wine usual calendar, in Masi vineyards harvest begins in 2021, with the prospect of an excellent year in all areas in which it develops the activities of the G roup.
Although the productions of some estates are slightly below average, due to the intense weather phenomena that have occurred during the year, the premises are those of a harvest in the name of quality : the grapes are in fact perfectly healthy and in optimal state for harvesting. This is what emerges from the analysis of the Masi Technical Group which, thanks to the high competence of its experts, contributes to the study and production of the award-winning wines of the Veronese winery.
Going into the details of the individual vineyards, at the Masi headquarters, in Valpolicella Classica , the grape yield is within the average of the last 10 years and the bunches of the vineyards have excellent characteristics for resting: healthy, long and fairly sparse.
In Trentino , in the Conti Bossi Fedrigotti estates, the productions are slightly below the average, especially as regards the Marzemino with a reduction of 10% compared to the standard yields of this variety.
The late frost that affected the vineyards of Tuscany , at the Poderi Bell'Ovile in Serego Alighieri, led to a sharp reduction in yields, in some batches up to 50% less than the total production potential.
Even in the Canevel vineyards in Valdobbiadene the productions are below average due to the hailstorm that hit the area at the end of July.
In the vineyards of Castion di Strada , in Friuli , the spring frost caused a reduction in yield of 15% compared to the potential yield on the white varieties, especially in the lots of Pinot Grigio.
Raffaele Boscaini , Marketing Director and Coordinator of the Masi Technical Group comments: "Once again this year we have come to the moment when we can finally appreciate the long work done during the vintage. Thanks to the quality grapes project of the Masi Technical Group we are going to harvest grapes that meet the characteristics sought, in terms of quality and health. They are grapes grown and cared for with the utmost attention to a balance in the exploitation of resources, so that vintages like this can be repeated over the years and in future generations. This responsible approach is shared and carried out by the contributing winemakers involved who can feel fully satisfied in being a decisive part of a fascinating supply chain like that of wine ".
