Among the decisions adopted by the National Wine Committee in the session yesterday Wednesday 28 July, there is also the modification of the production disciplinary of the denomination of controlled origin "Grignolino del Monferrato Casalese ". Among the main changes approved - Confagricoltura Piemonte clarifies in a note - is the addition of the specifications "Riserva", "Vigna" and "Riserva Vigna" and the modification of the ampelographic base, which now provides for the possibility of using Grignolino vines ( minimum 95%) and Freisa and Barbera, alone or jointly, up to a maximum of 5% .
"We are satisfied with the result - declares Luca Brondelli di Brondello, president of Confagricoltura Alessandria - which will offer producers the opportunity to further diversify their productions, improving them in terms of quality. The Grignolino del Monferrato Casalese boasts a select group of admirers, able to appreciate all the peculiarities of a unique product, identifying the best wines from native vines of our territory ".
Confagricoltura recalls that in a list compiled in 1798 by the agronomist Giuseppe Nuvolone Pergamo, count of Scandeluzza, Grignolino was already mentioned as "excellent wine when mixed with freisa": the modification of the specification is therefore a return to the origins in the name of innovation .
