BIODIVERSITY, IN PIAN CANSIGLIO (BL) THE FIRST CERTIFICATION OF MEADOWS AND PASTURES IN ITALY

The protection of biodiversity and animal welfare represent essential values and commitments to guarantee sustainability and resources for the new generations. It is in this context that the CSQA , leader in the certification in the agri-food field, has issued the first certification in Italy concerning dairy products; certification attributed to the Dairy and Agritourism Center of the Tambre-Spert-Cansiglio Plateau (Bl) for products deriving from animals living in meadows and pastures with a high level of biodiversity. The certification process, which took place according to the " Biodiversity Friend® " standard of the World Biodiversity Association, verified the high level of biodiversity of the meadows and pastures of Pian del Cansiglio. The important communication took place today on the occasion of the Forest Fair and Festival , organized by Longarone Fiere, the Veneto Region and Veneto Agriculture, an event that will end tomorrow in the plain of the Cansiglio regional state-owned forest.

These high levels of biodiversity ensure a healthy environment and a diet rich in essences for grazing livestock with excellent repercussions on the dairy products from these derivatives. We remind you that "Biodiversity Friend®" is a tool for enhancing the territory and its products that allows you to measure the excellent environmental value of the Cansiglio: this is how fresh milk and excellent cheeses are born, entirely coming from a territory that represents environmental excellence .

"We are very proud - says Federico Caner , Regional Councilor for Agriculture - that the enormous environmental value of the meadows and pastures of Pian Cansiglio has been recognized and measured through a national certification system. A Veneto environmental heritage that ensures biodiversity in the territory, social value and correct management of fauna. We hope that this important recognition, which represents a best practice of Veneto agriculture, can open the way to other realities of this as well as other mountain areas of our territory. It should also be remembered that Veneto products they represent an important lever not only from the food and wine point of view but also from the tourist one. Also for this reason these excellences can boast the " VENETO, THE LAND OF VENICE " brand reserved for typical and quality products of our region.

For his part, Nicola Dell'Acqua , Director of Veneto Agriculture, underlined that "the regional agency has strongly wanted and supported this project on the territories owned by the Veneto Region to enhance one of the most important historical and naturalistic areas at the regional level and nationally. We are convinced that sustainability is also a driving force for the economic and social growth of a territory ".
