AUTOCHTONA 2015

On 19th and 20th October, in Bolzano, the ?Autochtona? event is back, the National Forum of native wines that will take place as usual simultaneously with Hotel, the four-days event dedicated to the industry of accommodation and catering (19th-22nd October). A journey through the Italy of native wine along with the main wardens of this heritage: small producers, true ambassadors of the uniqueness of our territory. Organized in cooperation with AIS, the Italian Association of Sommeliers, ?Autochtona? will host around 100 realities from all over Italy, often small artisans who keep rare or forgotten grape varieties. For this 12th edition, more and more attention will be paid to the involvement of skilled professionals, coming from Italy and abroad. Unchanged for the sixth consecutive year are the participation rules, particularly restrictive. The criterion for the selection of the festival focuses, in effect, on manufacturers of niche products, limiting membership to only Italian labels with a percentage of native vines at least 95%. Looking at the numbers, the 2014 edition reached 1,275 admissions (25% more than the previous year), with 82 producers from 14 different Italian regions, for a total of 316 native labels. Among the most anticipated events of this year: the ?Autoctoni che passione!? selection, where the best wines for tasting will be awarded with the "Autochtona Award" by a panel of Italian and international wine journalists, and the "Tasting Lagrein" exhibition, a comparative tasting which will award prizes to the best Lagrein wines, now an integral part of the "side" program of the event. The days of wine at Fiera Bolzano, finally, will continue with the event dedicated to the Winegrowers of South Tyrol (on Wednesday, 21st October) with the tasting tables of "Vinea Tirolensis". A rich and interesting program, then, what is looming for the 12th edition of ?Autochtona?, a perfect opportunity to raise awareness, promote and enhance the native Italian productions.
