This year's 38th Vicenza-style Bacalà Festival announces a special event that brings together young talents, art, and historical memory. On Wednesday, September 24th, at 8:30 p.m., in Piazza SS. Filippo e Giacomo in Sandrigo , the musical work "Note sulla Via Querinissima " will be performed. The work was composed by Alberto La Rocca and will be performed by nearly one hundred students from the "Giacomo Zanella" school in Sandrigo and the Musikmittelschule in Axams , Austria. The concert, free and open to all, concludes the first of eight stages of the cultural exchange project of the same name along some of the destinations on the Via Querinissima . The project, born from an idea shared by the G. Zanella Institute, Pro Sandrigo , and the Municipality of Sandrigo, is supported by local businesses and the Fondazione Banca Popolare di Marostica Volksbank.
During the performance, cartoonist Paolo Cossi will create a live drawing of some panels from his graphic novel about Pietro Querini. The comic will be previewed on Tuesday, September 23rd at 8:30 pm at the Sandrigo Library, in an event organized in collaboration with Unpli Vicenza and with the support of the Veneto Region.
The Vicenza-style Bacalà Festival , scheduled for September 18th to 29th , is packed with events. Alongside the concert, two gastronomic events will kick off the festival: Bacco & Bacalà , scheduled for Sunday , September 14th , and the Gran Galà del Bacalà , which will be held on the evening of Tuesday, September 16. On Monday, September 22, Riso… TiAmo will also be held again, the second edition of the closed-entry event dedicated to the tasting of four gourmet risottos, including the one with cod, by reservation. Furthermore, there will be many exhibitions, shows, children's entertainment and markets that will complement the wide culinary offerings of the gastronomic area in Parco 3000.
The protagonist It will always be Vicenza-style cod prepared according to the traditional recipe guarded by the Confraternity of Cod with Lofoten PGI Stockfish , which will be accompanied by specialties such as gnocchi, bigoli al torcio, gourmet pizza and the new dish of the year: cod ravioli . There will also be alternatives for children, vegetarians and celiacs. The dishes will be paired with local wines from Cantina Beato Bartolomeo , Tenuta Natalina Grandi , Mancassola Vini and cheeses from Lattebusche .
In addition to the food and wine events, the Festival also features cultural initiatives such as the group exhibition "Faded Memories ," which will showcase the works of eighteen Venetian artists, both native and adopted, in the rooms of Villa Sesso Schiavo in Sandrigo. Curated by Ugo Bianco and sponsored by the Veneto Region, the Municipality of Sandrigo, and the Pro Loco (tourist association), the exhibition is inspired by the theme of remembrance. The official opening will be held on Monday, September 22nd at 3:30 pm , with the artists in attendance and a toast provided by the Sandrigo Pro Loco. Admission is free, and the exhibition is open Monday through Saturday from 3:30 pm to 7:30 pm. On Sundays, the exhibition will be open in the morning from 9:30 am to 12:00 pm until Friday, October 3rd.
To promote and explore the history of Vicenza-style bacalà, as well as the connection between Norway and the Veneto region, Pro Sandrigo has created the podcast "Bacalà Stories," a tasteful journey from Røst to Sandrigo thanks to a shipwreck . This five-episode narrative explores Pietro Querini, the fishing and preparation methods of Lofoten stockfish, the cultural and gastronomic influence of Vicenza-style bacalà on Venetian cuisine, the original recipe, and the future prospects of this iconic dish. The podcast is available on Pro Sandrigo's YouTube and Spotify channels.
