The aim of the event is to enhance and promote the local wine starting from its product par excellence, Frascati which, in the superior version, is one of the three DOCGs of the Lazio Region.
An important event for a territory known, historically, more for its production capacity than for its qualitative aspects and which instead has within itself aspects of productive characterization not easily found in other territories of our peninsula.
This is demonstrated by the high participation of the wineries that characterize the territory of Frascati and Castelli Romani: over 40 companies will exhibit their wines at the tasting stands and will characterize the event as evidence of a productive presence that in the last ten years has made quality winemaking an emblem of this territory that has in its geological characteristics an extremely relevant aspect from the point of view of wine cultivation. In a national territory, Italy, that has a biodiversity if not unique in the world at least unique in Europe, a diversity of vines that has no competitors on the entire planet, the viticulture of this area is based on a geological process that characterizes its foundations.
The area of Castelli Romani and Lazio in general is characterized by being the testimony and fruit of primordial volcanic activity that has influenced its territorial reality. The vines of the Frascati area and Castelli Romani are rooted in the remains of volcanic eruptions of great power and importance capable of overturning and bringing to the surface the mineral and molecular presences present in the core of our planet.
The roots of the vines of Lazio and in particular of Frascati and the Roman Hills are on the “caldare” of this Great Volcano. We owe the fertility of our planet and, in part, life to the geological activity of the primordial Earth, but also to the current one. The ability of the human race to refine the culture of doing, in this case of winemaking, would not be able to replace this ancestral reality that is our territory.
It is with these premises, this desire to make known, that I vini del Grande Vulcano laziale was born, so that the products can be better appreciated, knowing the premises.
To help you understand this reality, the Masterclass by sommelier Francesco Radiciotti will accompany you to discover the Luna Mater by Fontana Candida. The "Luna Mater" is a wine that is a symbol of the recovery of the great winemaking tradition of Frascati. From the selection of vineyards, all with an average age of over fifty years, to the harvest, strictly manual and timed according to the perfect degree of ripeness of each vine. The masterclass will offer us a vertical of this product, proposing the 2021, 2019, 2017, 2015, 2012, 2008 harvests, demonstrating that the Frascati Superiore Docg is not exclusively a "ready to drink" wine, but is capable of refining over time and reinventing itself as the years pass.
