Ormeasco of Pornassio (twin vine variety of the Piedmont Dolcetto) seems to have been imported from the Saracens, all around the year one thousand, neighboring areas in Ormea in the Ligurian Alps. In 1303, the Marquis of Clavesana, who ruled the area, ordered to cultivate this vine variety in his possessions.
