The Candia Hills, between Massa and Carrara, are well–renowned for their vinegrowing vocation since ancient times. Versilia is located in the immediate vicinity and and the fantastic Apuan Alps of the marble quarries can rely on the resources of an extraordinary microclimate founded on a pleasantly breezy summers and very mild winters.

Vines, therefore, thrive with obvious quality advantages. It has become the absolute protagonist of the landscape, which is characterized by glimpses of charming beauty.

Terraces and slopes demonstrate the effective presence of man in a clever harmony with the environment, a harmony that does not allow room for the hectic life of modern times. Here, customs and family ties, firmly bound to the teachings of the territory, are very important.

Not by chance, the Cima family has been working in farms and producing excellent wines for four generations, continuing a fantastic adventure that began in the nineteenth century.

It is a continuous activity that along the way has helped to create a wealth of experience of incalculable importance. Some requirements have allowed Giovanni Cima and his son Aurelio, who has the task of leading the company in the intriguing journey into the third millennium, to make a prodigious technological leap forward projected into a future that promises to be full of satisfaction.

Sensitivity and intuition, in effect, have made it clear that the enormous potentialities of the area had to be exploited in an appropriate manner, thanks to the helpful suggestions of qualified technicians both in the vineyard and in the winery. In this way, in 1997 a collaboration with the Matura Group has begun.

The significance of the choice, which combined science, the microclimate of the area and entrepreneurial wisdom, has been welcomed favorably, both by the international market and by the specialized critics. Candia has finally come out from myth to constitute a entity of absolute significance, able of giving rise to wines, both red and white, with notable personalities.

The huge efforts and the outstanding achievements seem to open up more and more prestigious prospects.

The Cima Company is spread over an area of 27 hectares of specialized vineyards located in the hills of Candia in the area between Massa and Carrara.
