Tuscany, the cradle of culture and famous men, but also a land of noble wines.

In the municipality of San Casciano, the Florentine Niccolò Machiavelli wrote “The Prince”, and always here continued the work of his father, cultivating olive trees and vineyards.

So the greatness of Niccolò blends with nature, with the genuineness and with the traditions.

Around the tiny village the vineyards and olive groves of the old Fontalle farm are located, 27 hectares of vineyards of special cultivation produce the famous Chianti Classico DOCG and its reserve, as well as other special selections of exclusive wines.

And yet beautiful forests of cypress and oak frame the village where time seems to stand still.

The cellars under the house of Machiavelli have remained the same “celle di vino di contro a detto albergaccio” mentioned in a document of 1498.

Several small oak barrels of high quality fine, as at that time, slowly the wines of the vineyard of Fontalle.

The ancient Machiavelli Farm is one of the six symbols of the oldest Chianti tradition.

It rises in Sant’Andrea Percussina, in San Casciano Val di Pesa, in the province of Florence.

The winery, built 500 years ago, is developed in the basement of what was once the home of Machiavelli, in the long years of exile from Florence, where the wines are aged still today in French oak barrels.

At the "Albergaccio", contiguous to the winery, in 1512 and from 1513 onwards, Niccolò Machiavelli lived confined, alternating the exercise of writing, the care of the fields, and finding modest entertainment at the famous Hosteria.

Machiavelli was careful administrator of his vineyards and his estates, which followed and cared about personally.
A careful restoration has brought back today the "Osteria" ("Albergaccio") to the original structure.

The kitchen and small rooms, furnished mostly with original furniture of the house–museum, allow guests to taste in the most congenial atmosphere to enjoy the simple dishes of rural tradition and prestigious wines of the Vineyard of Fontalle and Poggio. Machiavelli is the prestige brand of Tuscany, exclusively reserved for the traditional channel, which offers a savvy consumer a selection of Tuscan wines of the highest quality, image and limited quantities that come only from vineyards of property.

The vines, about 27 hectares of Sangiovese grown in Guyot and spurred cordon, are grown on highly suited land on the hills at 300 meters above sea level, facing south.
