The Feudo dei Sanseverino is an experience that stems from a great passion for wine with the desire to enhance an ancient tradition, heir to a culture that has enriched all of Europe, and a great confidence in the potential of a territory that too often it has brought suffering and misery. "It was the Enotri, lineage that occupied the present Basilicata and Calabria regions, that created the basis of our oenology and the vines, still cultivated, (like Malvasia, Greco and Aglianico,) were imported from the Greek colonies (from VIII century BC onwards). In particular it is significant, the proverbial opulence and the culinary refinement of the Sybarite society: they drank a lot the wines of their hills as they believed to be an excellent antidote against the excessive heat. Confirms Ateneo (in his "Deipnosophiste") that the sybarite began to drink before sunset and ended after sunrise. The wines were excellent and local and while in Athens they were cut with sea water or other essences, since the Calabrian wines were quite liqueur and fragrant, the procedure provided, in in some cases, the addition of black cherry leaves or raisins to cooked wine (ie reduced by boiling). " The company, a small agricultural reality, was born in the Municipality of Saracena, a village perched on the hills of the Pollino Mountains (now a National Park), Its vineyards are located at a height between 250 and 300 meters along the slopes close to of the plain that hosted the ancient city of Sibari. The vines, all completely autochthonous, preserved intact even from a lack of development of the territory, are the gaglioppo (called by the old Aglianico and / or lacrima), the Guarnaccia, the Malvasia and the Muscat. Thanks to an agricultural work that has now disappeared, an artisanal and respectful vinification of the territory and the vines, the Saracen Muscat, the Gaglioppo and the Marianna woman are produced.

SERVICES

Rugged and stingy, tender, wild and violent, solar in its clear and open seas towards the Mediterranean and mysterious in its decent slopes of vineyards and olive groves and in the sumptuous woods of its plateaus. A natural environment with a tormented orography and a thousand-year history that has had moments of great variety for the continuous and contrasting alternation of civilizations and foreign dominations in a hallucinatory heap of different events and situations, where history and nature, mockingly united, have made dramatic and conditioning social life.
