Tenuta di Ghizzano

Ghizzano is a small hillside village, about 200 meters high, located on the coast of Tuscany, 40 km from Livorno and 40 km south of Pisa. The cellar and the olive mill are just around the tower built by the Venerosi Pesciolini family in 1370.

We are in an area called the Pisan Hills, which includes a group of hills to the south–east of Pisa. None of these rolling and gentle hills exceed 200 meters: the landscape is gentle and the climate is mitigated by marine airs, without great extremes of temperature and without great risk of spring frosts. The soil composite is very interesting. Formerly, the area was under the sea and the land is still rich in fossil shells. Of origins in the Pliocene era, it has a sandy–silty–clay texture.

Now, the Ghizzano Estate owns about 350 hectares, of which 20 are grown with vineyards, 20 with olive groves, 150 with cereal crops and 150 are woods and poplar groves. Our goal is to continue to invest in natural viticulture and agriculture, to place on the market products that are limited in quantity, but of the highest quality, while respecting the expressions that oil and wine can give in this area, not betraying the style, the elegance and the richness of aromas of these rolling hills.

Ghizzano produces maybe very little, but very well ... we will never stop believing in our wine. In 2003 we started a process of conversion to organic agriculture and since 2008 we are officially certified by the Soil and Health Institute.

Since 2001 we have also started the Farmhouse activity: we have carefully restored a few farm houses, furnishing them with family furniture, to offer a warm hospitality, always in the name of quality and elegance.
