In 2002, Agricola Punica purchased a plot of land of 170 hectares divided into two estates: Barrua and Narcao, located in the south–west coast of Sardinia, in an area known as South Sulcis. The wine is called I.G.T. Isola dei Nuraghi, a name that refers to the ancient stone towers built by the Nuragic civilization, present on the island since the Neolithic period, until 238 BC, when Sardinia passed under the Roman Empire.
The vineyards are located in Barrua and Narcao and are characterized by 15 hectares of Carignano, planted in 1990 and 50 hectares of a new plantings of Carignano, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Merlot. The soils are very deep and stony with an average amount of clay.
The south–western corner of Sardinia is the ideal environment for the production of great wines with red berries.
Winters are mild and summers are warm and dry. The great brightness, allows grapes to reach a level of maturity in which the polymerization of the tannins begins even before the harvest.

Santadi Winery is located in Sulcis, in the south–west area of Sardinia, as the crow flies a few kilometers from the wonderful beaches and the white sand dunes of Porto Pino. Founded in 1960, once overcome the difficulties of the first years with the arrival of a new management group, animated by that determination which generates enthusiasm and passion, the company undertook other strategies that gave it a new face with more consistent guidelines for producer members. The ambitious goal: to bet on bottled wine, red wines in particular, to give visibility and identity to the most important cultivar of the territory: Carignano, without forgetting the traditional white grapes of Sardinia, such as Vermentino, Nuragus and Nasco. In terms of wine, they aim high, asking advice to the internationally renowned oenologist Giacomo Tachis, whose arrival represented a breakthrough at the Santadi Winery. From the grapes of vineyards with saplings (Latin vineyard) wines based on Carignano are obtained, of exuberant extractive content, of noble tannic framework and perfect balance among organic acid component, alcohol and polyphenolic value.
The thoughtful use of French barriques closes beautifully and harmoniously the evolutionary cycle of these exciting wines. The great reds: Terre Brune, Rocca Rubia, Araja, Grotta Rossa and Antigua, are accompanied by the stylish Villa di Chiesa, Cala Silente, Pedraia, Villa Solais, Latinia, white wines, children of the ancient winemaking tradition coupled with the new technologies in the field of winemaking, stabilization and bottling.

Agricola Punica is a joint venture between Sebastiano Rosa, Sardinian winery Cantina di Santadi, Tenuta San Guido, Santadi President Antonello Pilloni and legendary Tuscan consulting oenologist Giacomo Tachis.
Sebastiano Rosa, oenologist and winemaker at Tenuta San Guido and Santadi, the highly respected Sardinia cooperative, represent the majority ownership, with forthy percent each. Tenuta San Guido, under the presidency of Marchese Nicolò Incisa della Rocchetta, holds ten percent, with Giacomo Tachis and Santadi President Antonello Pilloni equally sharing the remain ten percent.
It was really Mr. Tachis who thought about the the Sardinia and Carignano match and he persuaded all the others in order to produce a fantastic Carignano wine.

The foremost aim was to stake operations on quality bottled wines, especially typical reds, enhancing and promoting the primary local cultivar: carignano, while not forgetting white grapes with a distinguished tradition in Sardinia, such as vermentino, nuragus and nasco.
