First detour: Mestrino. Mestrino is located fifteen kilometers west of Padua, that can be easily reached both from the city and the motorway. In Mestrino you find Enoteca Centrale, the project of three enterprising and capable young men who, in this point of junction between the provinces of Padua and Vicenza (where money run, my dear), have recovered the old bar of the village, with adjoining newsstand, filling it with the best gastronomic products in the market. Since early morning they serve well prepared breakfasts, then smart and quick lunches with some pretension (soft Polentina with melted Tomino cheese, honey fungus and goose speck ham, so to speak) and all through the day, the wide and complex wine cellar, integrated with the place, is made available. We are talking about over eight hundred different wines, including many of the best champagne di maison cuvée which they do not hesitate to uncork even to pour just one glass. They are skilled, the welcoming is giovane and if you want to indulge an intimate moment, there are nice and informal dining rooms.
