The blossoming of spring invites wine lovers to discover and celebrate, from 30 March to 8 April, Nosiola, the only white grape variety in Trentino, and Vino Santo, an extraordinary passito with very long drying and ageing. For the occasion, the dedicated tastings will be accompanied by events and initiatives to discover the natural and cultural heritage of the valley.

Take the only autochthonous white grape variety of Trentino, imagine the passito that derives from it after the longest natural drying in the world and the opportunity to savor it between tastings, walks and cultural proposals in its land, the splendid landscape of the Valle dei Lakes, an area with an Alpine-Mediterranean climate east of Trento.

All this is “ DiVin Nosiola: when wine becomes a saint ”, the first Trentino wine event of the year, scheduled from 30 March to 8 April , which will feature Nosiola and, precisely, Vino Santo , Trentino Doc and Slow Food presidium.

An appointment organized by the Valle dei Laghi Tourist Consortium and by the Vignaioli Vino Santo Trentino Doc association, with the support of Trentino Marketing, the coordination of the Trentino Wine and Flavors Route - as part of the promotion of the provincial wine events called #trentinowinefest – and the collaboration of APT Garda Dolomiti, Consorzio Vini del Trentino, Ecomuseum of the Valle dei Laghi, Palazzo Roccabruna of Trento and Casa Caveau Vino Santo.

Cultivated above all in the Valle dei Laghi , even if it is also present on the Avisiane Hills and in Vallagarina, Nosiola is a white grape which benefits from the Mediterranean climate of this area north of Lake Garda and from the influence of the Ora , the wind which blows from the lake towards the hinterland.

Vino Santo - not to be confused with vino santo - is the passito that comes from the grapes of this vine : placed on racks called àrele in well-ventilated places, they are left to dry from the late harvest in mid-September until pressing during Holy Week . from which this fascinating product takes its name. At this point the must is separated from the cloudy part and left to rest in small oak barrels for at least 50 months : in reality, aging usually lasts 10 years for a truly precious nectar. With its amber yellow colour, pleasantly sweet taste, intense and broad aroma, Vino Santo Trentino Doc has in fact a generally very low annual production .

To pay due homage to its two winemaking jewels, "DiVinNosiola: when wine becomes a saint" is once again proposing a rich calendar of events and initiatives this year. Among others, the eagerly awaited Rite of Spremitura deserves a special mention, during which the first withered Nosiola grapes are pressed, the Trekking among the Nosiola vineyards and of course the tastings of the two products and the related grappas . In addition to those in the cellar and in the Casa Caveau Vino Santo , don't miss those in Palazzo Roccabruna, headquarters of the Provincial Enoteca of Trentino in the heart of the capital : a unique opportunity to taste numerous expressions of Nosiola, discovering its great versatility, and Vino Santo with many historic vintages, with bottles that can even be 30 years old.

To enrich this food and wine, tourist and cultural experience, the Trips and Taste Experiences offered by the Trentino Wine and Flavors Route . In the first case, these are packages for several days, while in the second, they are proposals to be experienced in the day, among wineries, landscape and initiatives of the event.
